The head coach of Mizzou's first opponent for the 2017 season is Dave Steckel, who has coached at Missouri state from 2014-present. He was defensive coordinator of the Missouri Tigers from 2009 - 2014, coaching 2 back to back SEC players of the year in 2013 and 2014, and coached the defense to 6th in the nation in points allowed per game in 2010. His 2013 defense ranked 4th in total sacks in the nation, and his 2014 defense ranked 9th in the nation. He was a great asset to Mizzou and wish him all the best except for on September 2nd.
