Tebow, Peyton, Wuerffel, Namath, Spurrier would be my Top 5 in order without Cam.
Manziel will be ahead of Cam for sure. Not saying he was better but he did it for two years compared to one

Tons of quarterbacks have lit up college football but only a few in a decade makes a career in the NFL. Perfect example someone already mentioned Grey McElroy. His players around him were stacked and made him and then he was out of the NFL in like 3 years.

I'm assuming the top 5 are Manning, Manning, Tebow, Newton, and Manziel. It'll be interesting to see the order.

I could see it, but that would show some pretty apparent recency bias. This kind of comes down to how do you compare stats from different eras of college football. If you are just looking at bottom line stat numbers, then it will be full of recent guys.

Does this apply to every position? Would you rank Emmitt Smith higher as an SEC RB than Herschel Walker because he found more success in the NFL? If we based these things on NFL success we would be talking about Tom Brady as one of the greatest college QB's of all time and I don't think anyone would argue that position.

You must have a short memory to forget the 464 passing yard performance he put on you guys in 2001 or the forty burger Florida put up in 2000. Grossman was an absolute beast.

Ah the emmitt smith/Herschel walker is a good point. I guess not then. Carry on.

Greg McElroy didn't exactly light it up. He was absolutely horrid for most of the 2009 season. Even in 2010, he was very mediocre.

7. Sullivan (Know this is going to bring howls from Gumps, but he was a player.
8. Wuerffel
9. Manziel
10.Archie Manning.

He was an SEC champ every year in school and had the most decorated season (for a qb at least) in SEC history.

Saturday Down South's Top 25 SEC QB's All Time (25-16)

Did you look at the stats?

Screw the stats.....the Snake has a Super Bowl ring and was a highly successful NFL QB.

Stats are misleading. Different era. You know how long it took Terry Bradshaw before he had a 300 yard passing game in the NFL? Ten years.

Also, Stabler only had 10 games a season.

No, it won't.

But I would take Archie over Sullivan.

So these are strictly based on college career.

Shuler was a better college player stat wise, but Stabler played on 2 Alabama national championship teams and 3 Alabama SEC championship teams.

Plus Stabler blew Shuler out with his NFL career.

And Kenny Stabler has a Super Bowl ring & he played under 2 legendary coaches, Paul Bear Bryant & John Madden.

Peyton doesn't deserve to be ranked very high. True, his passing stats are impressive, but they didn;t amount to much in the trophy case and you can't blame his spporting cast either, he played with some real studs.
