Please make sure to put up the Cock Signal when threads like this are started.

I'll begin here.

My common response:

Tennessee was a school before Texas was a state.

Yes, we had that same argument with the trojans.

exas might not even be a state without Tennessee (UT sent the most Volunteers to defend the Alamo- hence the name.)

I think the only thing we sent to Cali are the liberals during the 1950's-1960's.

The Palmetto Flag flew over the gates of Mexico City as the Palmetto Regiment was one of the first to enter the city.

We sent So.Cal back home with a bloody nose the last time they came to Columbia way back when.

Honestly, I'm just even more confused about y'all's acronym after reading this.

I guess if you look at the long history of college football, The University of Southern California has accomplished more than the University of South Carolina.

Of course, this may not be true in the future(2011-2???) so perhaps your team will be identified as USC in the minds of the crowd that follows college football.

You misunderstand. I have no problem with Southern Cal being called USC, and get why they are. My question is why is SC the only team that receives backlash when using the same acronym.

Because Southern Cal is the official USC.

Yeah a court in Cali ruled in favor of So.Cal. Go figure.

Go to SC.edu and uscsports.com to see where that takes you.

Did SCAR appeal to the U.S.C?

Did USC take away your SC from the baseball team?

Most people say or write U of A when referring to Arkansas within the state.

Meh it's whatever. Seems to me those ppl don't know what they are either way. One minute there SC and the next minute there USC but it's whatever.

I never really put much thought into this matter. People always try to hitch there football tradition to the trojans using usc. Which is bull shite when you consider the fact that SC is a state and that is our state funded university. I don't think you will find the state of "
Southern California" on a map just sayin.
