Thoughts and prayers for him. That is absolutely a terrible thing.

Reminds me of Ant Lucas breaking his patella ending his career. Heartbreaking for Childs. Sick for him.

It was late in the 4th quarter against Vandy in Fayetteville, we were up by about 4 touchdowns and Childs was still in. We could have just run the ball and ended the game, but Petrino called a slant across the middle trying to score again and the Vandy defender pulled Childs down awkwardly.

I am going to respectfully dissent with you on this... I will grant you the point that there was probably no real good reason (that WE know) for Childs to be in there. Maybe Petrino was looking ahead and wanting to work on something. Maybe he thought Childs needed the extra work. Whatever.

BUT - that injury could have happened just as easily on the opening play of the game. It's unfortunate the way that it worked out. I don't think we should hold Petrino responsible for the injury though. JMHO.

My buddy had 14 knee surgeries by the age of 28 after college ball.. I had 1, and after that I gave up on football and college rubgy.

It isn't worth the pain and hardship. Hope the kid gets through school though. It will be his best shot at making the best of the situation. So many of these kids don't bother to finish.

You got that right. Even if his football playing career has to end, he still has a whole lot to offer.

I said when Wright and Childs were both drafted by the Vikings that they would make that team a lot better in the passing game. Kalil would keep Ponder on his feet, and Childs and Wright would spread the field, allowing Peterson to go to work. It sucks that Childs is gone, but in terms of what this means for Wright, he'll get more catches and more yards. I'm sure he'll tribute a few TDs to his boy Greg.

I hope he made bank before getting injured. A few million would make it hurt just a little less than if it was in college. I hope he fully recovers though.

UPDATE: ESPN says he Tore both ACL and MCLs in BOTH KNEE's

He didn't tear his ACL and MCL in both knees. He ruptured his patellar tendons in both knees. Sucks either way.
