Saban is the only thing protecting the SEC...

...against B10 dominance.
The coaching talent in the B10 is terrific. Outside of Saban, I'm not sure there is any SEC coach I would take over an B10 coach.
Meyer, Harbaugh, & Dantonio are top shelf coaches.
Frentz, Fitzgerald, Crryst, Franklin & Riley are all very good coaches who do more with less.
By my count the SEC has 1 top shelf coach (Saban), 1 2nd tier coach (Mullen), and the rest are pretty average.
The B10 is setting up for a run. Demographics will hinder them, but their coaching talent will overcome.
How/why does the SEC hire so poorly?

Sec has better assistant coaches. We have higher salaries for them. That is what matters most anyways. -
Bad QB play is the main culprit. But Sec QBs are getting hammered by two things...
- overrated coming out of Hs
- sec defenses making QBs look very average.

Alabama has separated themselves from the rest of CFB. They're getting better while the rest of CFB is becoming more mediocre.

Hell, the ACC has better coaching than the SEC at this point.

Its all about the assistants. Assistants should make 2 million a year.

What about the five former head coaches currently on Bama's staff? They probably out rank most SEC head coaches.

-Because of Saban certain jobs might be less attractive to top flight coaches
-Because of Saban long time and/or successful SEC HCs are gone: Meyer, Les, Richt (wins SEC 12)
-Half of the east is coached by former Saban assistants bc of what they "did under Saban:" Muschamp, Mcelwain, Smart.
How many assistants have NCs and top units and recruiting classes under Saban? Pretty much all of them this century. Fools gold

There is Lord Saban and then everyone else pretty much sucks aside from "butter teeth" McElwain.
