What if Saban showed up to the first game wearing little horns, I would laugh
In the category of "would never happen" it would be funny if saban used horns and a pitchfork prop while doing a chicken dance the next time he played and defeated Florida (if Tim Davis is still there).
You know, like spiking the eye of the tiger with a pitchfork kind of thing. If one of our farkers could do this it would be good for the lulz.

he should be ashamed of himself for saying something like this. Is he so stupid that he doesn't realize that the only reason that he was probably even wanted as an assistant coach is BECAUSE he once worked with Nick Saban?
quote:Thank you for providing this information yet AGAIN in this thread. Davis wasn't exactly in the fricking breadline when Nick brought him to Miami.
Tim Davis had been working as an assistant in college football for decades before he started working with Nick Saban on the Miami Dolphins. His prior job at Southern Cal was certainly an extremely prestigious position and he was obviously well regarded at that point or Saban wouldn't have had any interest in sniping him for his staff.
I think the jab from Davis was clearly intended as a joke and should be treated as a joke by anyone who doesn't really think he is a devil.
Sounds like we have a buncha nancy boys defending our coach's sensitivities around here. It doesn't help matters when our coach makes public comments about his disappointment over what was meant to be a damn joke.

This.
After all, he said in the same speech:
"Will coached under the devil himself for seven years. I only did three. He did seven. And his DNA is not any different than Nick."
He's also joking that his own boss, Muschamp, is a devil as well.
And for Saban to even address this non-issue shows that he has pretty thin skin.

Sensitive to the least little remark.... I woulda never thought that about our coach. Ever.

This is why I never thought he would stay at LSU for the long haul, why he never seemed genuinely happy here. If not Miami, something else would have come up. Great coach, but it seems he actually listens to jibber jabber. Coach Miles gets a lot of flack for this, but he really doesn't care about the chatter boxes, national or local.

The guy doesn't take a shite without laying out a 6 step plan. There has to be a reason why he addressed this comment.

I just personally think this whole thing has been blown way out of proportion. And should have been allowed to fall by the wayside without further comment.

National sports press, even if it's not accurate, hangs to a person. He probably wants to put a stop to it, if he can.

I have to say (from his time in LSU) there were few things more entertaining than listening to Saban put down some overbearing post-game caller's comments. Even after a very tough loss I could laugh when Nick would gripe about how many world class coaches there seemed to be calling in to offer free advice.
It is just the way Nick is wired. He takes even a joke or idiotic comment seriously enough to debunk it... sometimes that's funny to hear him do and sometimes it strikes you as just weird he would be insecure enough to bother. And I do think the word insecure is appropriate - that insecurity is probably part of what has driven him to such remarkable success

That must be it. Taking the time to address anonymous remarks, a local hack, whatever the case may be.

This trait probably has much to do with his drive to be the best, or be perfect, at whatever he does. Taking the bad with the good is part of the deal.

I dont know about that. He was asked about it in a press conference, seemed to not have heard it before, and gave an honest response. Is he not allowed to have his feelings hurt?

I love his answers to reporters that ask questions he either thinks are stupid or doesn't want to answer.

Sure. But calling the guy on the phone and asking him what the problem is might be a better way of dealing with it.

He was asked the question in a presser. Its not like he made a press release.

If Bobby Hebert had tried railing on NS at a post bowl game loss press conference they would still be finding the body parts.

I realize that. I'm just saying a shrug and a smile and 'next question' would have put water on it. Then call him and straighten out any personal problems (if there were any). It seems doing it his way is working out fine though, so it really doesn't matter.

I can see it now.
Attention, attention, Saban would like to address the current rumor that he is in fact, the devil.
Saban "Its hard out here for a Devil, I try to take over the world and you guys shite all over me. Then I just merely try and take over CFB and you guys call me out on it, sometimes you just cant win with these guys."
