Honestly, what was his agent thinking not to use either. They are the Alabama team doctors, and world reknowned in Andrews' case.
You shouldn't have to go to certain doctor to get you med eval fixed which is what that ultimately implies. I'm sure his agent took him to a world class physician -- he's got far more money riding on Foster's success than Saban does (the agent makes or loses money based on Foster's success in the draft and in terms of his overall career while at this point Saban has exactly zero money riding on Foster's success).
Honestly, it sounds pretty defensive on Saban's part to put this back on Foster. I know he doesn't want the idea that his players are worn out or whatever by the time they get to draft day out there but he could've answered things more neutrally and without blaming his player and his player's agent.

there is more to this than what meets the eye, saban is known in the pro agency circle for trying to control his players nfl process. He usually sets up their first meeting with agents with his agent (Sexton) and tries to not let it get past that. In the past when players have gone on their own independent route he doesn't endorse the decision and has been known to make things difficult for the players. I don't know how this played out but I'm willing to bet his agent had his reasons and maybe felt like it wouldn't be an honest evaluation. I'm speculating there but the rest is concrete.

Completely false. Hightower, Lacy, Drake, Fowler, Jackson, Tomlinson are all with Pat Dye Jr.

Agents want control of the narrative. If an agent's own doctor buddies are the go-to for medical issues, the agent can exert his influence in multiple ways. It was smart on the agent's part, since he's looking out for himself. It was dumb on Foster's part since his agent is looking out for himself.

Actually no I don't that is why I asked.
What schools has the most players on NFL rosters? Because at the end of the day that is what matters.

Well it certainly didn't help either of them in this case. I think the point is that Andrews and associates are uniformly trusted by League front offices. This guy used someone else and went outside of a process. That along with Rebuen's other missteps, dropped him 10-15 spots.

Maybe. If the agent is taking the long view, he's making himself integral now, before a player gets real bargaining power and can afford to switch agents. If Foster is his only client and he's looking for an immediate payoff, that's one thing. But I assume he has others?

There's some truth to this. I remember hearing the same when Michael Clayton left LSU. Also, I'm not surprised if the Sexton connection is why Marcus Spears is on the SEC Network. Spears went with Sexton. I believe Clayton went with Tom Condon.

I said this awhile back in another thread on the Bama board and earlier in this thread but I am not sure this agent knows exactly what he is doing, at least with respect to negotiating with League front offices. He is an agent who made his name in the MMA game. This guy Malki Kawa owns First Round Management and represents guys like Frank Mir and others. So he appears to be respected at least in the fight game. Problem is, football isn't MMA. Reuben appears to be his best football client. He also represents Florida's Jalen Tabor.

I don't think Saban likes this guy and thinks he didn't serve Reuben well.

Actually, Andrews doesn't do most of the surgeries.
He doesn't do many these days, as he's 75 years old, but he consults on most of them, and his name is still probably the most well known in orthopedic surgery. It was foolish not to use his services.
This is the problem with Foster. He's not the smartest guy, and I really don't know how he's going to do in the NFL without someone to hold him accountable. He's already picked a sketchy MMA rep as his agent and thrown a public tantrum.

It actually implies the opposite.
You go to the guy whose opinion is valued by the NFL, not the one set up buy the shady MMA guy who is getting 10%.

quote:Really?...well that's not what Jim Haslett said. He told me that he interviewed him at Pro-Day in Tuscaloosa, and that the kid had an excellent football I.Q. and would immediately diagnose a particular offensive set and tell you what each defensive player's responsibility was within whatever defense Haslett called out.....that ain't dumb...that's well trained!
Because he can't say the real reason. All 32 teams spoke to Radio and found out he is retarded. Not many teams were willing to simplify thier defensive calls so Radio can play like Bama did last season.

Why trust a Bama team doctor?

Do you have a clue as to who Drs. Andrews and Cain are? Have you ever heard of The Andrews Clinic in Pensacola, Fl.?
Posted on 4/28/17 at 7:56 pm to CapstoneGrad06
He probably found out that Dr. Andrews was an LSU alum.

Because a major pro sports surgery doesn't happen without a consult with that Alabama team doctor. LSU alum or not.
