Yeah...I will take Saban's methods all day long becuase he consistently wins and has us competeing for titles every single frcking year....no one else has even come close to being as succesful as Saban. I will take our chances with a team of 5* and 4*'s elite players from wherever than a bunch of 3* and 2* scrubs simply becuase they love Bama.

I think the question was about team chemistry before the game so in other words his answer was perfectly reasonable
Well that's a problem, Nick.

This is probably what LSU tells WR recruits, especially when you look at our passing game as of late. They do put WR's in the NFL.
Sure, I think most schools do. But it's ridicuolous to show wide eyed kids that have grown up poor their whole lives NFL paychecks and then throw them under the bus 3 years later when the draft rolls around.
The graphic says it all "The process pays off". Their loyalty isn't to Alabama or winning games. Their loyalty is to the process and the paycheck at the end. It's a tradeoff that you make and I think most Bama fans wouldn't trade any of their rings back for a couple of more players with more heart.
Just can't bitch about it when the time comes.

He's not bitching about guys leaving for the NFL. He is bitching about a distraction that could easily not be a distraction if it wasn't released until like 2 weeks later.
It is about as big of a distraction as there can be in college sports.

But, as it exists today, it's an even playing field for all teams. Maybe he should take lessons from Urban on how to motivate his players for a playoff game.

I know what you're saying, but I think that the draft grade is pointless. They have access to the internet and ESPN. They know if they are a draft pick before the "grade" comes back.
What I'm saying is that you can move that grade back as far as you want but now that draft coverage is year round it won't matter. Some players are going to mail it in at the end of the season to prevent a catastrophic injury.

When you have a history of complaining about these things only after you lose, most people are going to view your complaints as excuses for losing. Deal with it!

Clowney mailed his entire Junior year in and still got drafted #1. There's just not a huge incentive to some players to risk the injury.

Ahh the old traditional lets turn a completely reasonable idea from Saban in to an excuse for a loss.

Sounds like he's mad about being outcoached by Urby when up 21-6 while Urby was on his third-string QB.

Sorry you have NFL players? Take the good with the bad. Not an excuse. Play players who won't fear being injured then.

That is a fair criticism.

Alabama recruits players with the pitch that they will get them drafted and make them millionaires. Well, this is what fricking happens
National Championships and SEC Championships at a frequency higher than anyone else? I'll take it.

I think you can find a balance though and still have a team comprised of mostly 4 and 5 stars who come from within a few hundred miles of Alabama. When a good chunk of your players actually buy into the idea of state pride, the tradition, and winning games because you know your family, friends and community back home is counting on you, that mentality becomes infectious and spreads to the rest of the team.
Cherry pick a few from California or Virginia, etc, but don't abandon the local guys either. The primary reason teams like MSU have risen up is because they are getting the players Saban is ignoring.

As you should. I posted as much. I don't think that any Alabama fans would trade back the rings their team earned.
But as others said, this is a "problem" you have to deal with when you recruit good players and develop them to great players.

or i could turn it into saban implying he doesn't care about his players getting hurt and jeopardizing their nfl careers as long as they bust their arse for him on gamedays

I see where you're coming from Monty I really do. I just can't bring myself to question Nick Saban's recruiting process. I've never witnessed the Tide with rosters full of talent year after year after year like what NS has brought to the program.

so do you guys enjoy your coach's press conference more or Alabama's press conference more?
i think press conferences are generally boring and don't enjoy watching them. however, it is always entertaining when saban throws a temper tantrum and bites the head off a reporter or when steve spurrier trolls georgia and/or tennessee
