I hate to hear this.
It's been a very frustrating 3-4 years for a lot of reasons!

I only saw one block in the back and it was a weak one at that.
I see two weak ones that most refs wouldn't call, and one possible one that would absolutely have been called if the ref had come down on the "Yes, that was a block in the back" side of the call. Luckily for y'all, none of them did, or they didn't see it. The play itself was a good play overall.

With a few exceptions, it's seemed to work out though in some way.
-13 Gurley sprains an ankle, Keith Marshall does very well (for a few weeks, until he's hurt...)
-14 Gurley is suspended, the world is introduced to Nick Chubb
-15 Chubb is hurt, Sony gets over 1,000
Now with chubb/sony potentially hurt for the opener, I just see this as an opportunity for Holyfield to make a name for himself.

Marshall only played about 3 q's after Gurley got hurt in 2014.

So that's why preseason publications always spend most of their time talking about "Georgia's starting second-string running back"....

If you haven't heard of Elijah Holyfield, I suggest you get familiar with the name now. If the past is any indication anyway.

His dad beat Tyson, right?
Anyway, I just thought the fact that Georgia's recent history makes the concept of "starting second-string running back" a recurring theme was a bit amusing. Not so much for the first string running backs, granted, but it hasn't seem to hurt the program much.

We lost to vandy in 2013 because we were down to our 4th string rb. Same guy also had a costly fumble vs mizzou. Guess who might start game 1? That same guy.

With richt gone, I can't see it. Surely this new staff can see that we are severely limited on O with douglas, despite what he'll bring in pass protection. At least put herrian or holyfield back there who has the POTENTIAL to do some damage.
I think we're gone from the days of upperclassmen automatically getting a leg up on teh depth chart.

Y'all played UT the week before, right? Always good for a few injuries.
But the real reason you lost to Vandy was because, you know, destiny. We beat UGA, UF, and UT that season. Sometimes you're just pawns of fate.

No, it's been confirmed by UGA. Broke his left forearm on Sunday. Had surgery on Monday. No specifics on expected recovery time yet but the consensus is anywhere from 6-12 weeks. Sony played last season with a broken hand though so I would expect him to play as soon as he possibly can.

He'll be back at the 2nd game latest but will probably be back for UNC. He's fortunate. ATV accidents can be far worse than a broken arm.

Agreed. The second I saw the rumor of a player injured in an ATV accident I feared much worse.

It always scares me too because of what happened when I was a kid to one of my brother's friends. Those childhood incidents get seared into your mind forever.
I'm glad Sony will be alright. He's a good player who is very fun to watch.

Especially sense the dumbass on the dawgvent said it was as bad as could be, which to me is death, then paralysis, then broken neck/back.
