The Bham Bowl was well organized and felt safe. However, it was also planned well in advance. Not sure how good it would be if it was sprung on them.

FYI - it's called Legion Field not the Iron Bowl
Some call it the Football Capital of the South
Legion Field, Iron Bowl, Old Gray Lady, the shithole on Graymont. Call it whatever you want but I'm glad VOLS don't have to travel to that dump anymore

They removed that upper deck a long time ago

Clemson's stadium would be closer.

I believed you. It doesn't change the fact that no SEC teams will be playing there. EVER! I mean I aint mad, you said it was from the rumor mill. I just said it isn't true, because it isn't.

Don't blame you after all those years of arse kickings your team received there

SEC teams still play there.

Actually went to a UAB game there a couple years ago. Wasn't that bad. And they sold Good People Beer. Better than I remembered it from when Alabama played there.

Auburn played there

I wasn't aware they removed the upper deck. I haven't been in years.
They removed it twelve years ago. The stadium isn't in bad shape, it's just very old.
The dome would be better, but it's an active venue, and might have conflicts. I'm sure they'd rather not go through the hassle of negotiating with an outside university on short notice if there's ANY other option available, so it would need to be a municipal stadium somewhere, I'd think.

Well I'm not old so most of that probably happened before my time but I do vividly remember King Fulmer and Lord Manning romping that Alabama arse the last two times VOLS were in Legion Field.

UGA and South Carolina should play in Neyland, with gritted teeth. The checkerboards would be a nice touch.

I grew up in Birmingham and didn't realize Auburn played their home games with Tennessee there until the late 1970's.
"Until 1998, Alabama played at least three games at Legion Field every season. In 1998, Alabama double-decked the east stands at Bryant-Denny, bringing its capacity to a few hundred more seats than that of Legion Field. Due to the disrepair of Legion Field and the added capacity in Tuscaloosa, Alabama moved major conference games on campus. In the ensuing years, Alabama decreased the number of games scheduled in Birmingham. The last home game for Alabama at Legion Field was against the University of South Florida on August 30, 2003
Auburn also used Legion Field for some home games well into the 1970s due to the larger capacity and the difficulty in traveling to Auburn for most of the 20th century. Auburn played all home games against Tennessee at Legion Field until 1978 and against Georgia Tech until 1970, Auburn played its last home game there in 1991"

Well, yeah. Imagine trying to navigate that pile of shite state to find Auburn, Alabama in the 1960's with nothing but an atlas.

Seems like moving the game to Nashville would be a more logical option.

I'd rather play in the middle of a hurricane than at Legion Field.

Again, that's an active venue, with an international soccer match scheduled Saturday. This isn't a championship game being awarded, this is the conference considering moving a game for safety concerns on four days notice.
If it has to be moved, it will be based on availability and then proximity, not nightlife.
