Nice article on all the changes coming to the new Sewell Thomas this spring:

Gone are the days of outdated facilities for the Crimson Tide. The new Sewell-Thomas Stadium now features a state-of-the-art indoor practice facility down the third base line, a full concourse level with a team store and an Alabama Baseball Hall of Fame, outfield bullpens, a new scoreboard, a 2,000 square foot outfield playground and family area, 500 club seats, a spacious new press box, 12 luxury suites, an MLB scouting area behind home plate, and a larger parking lot for enhanced tailgating. Alabama essentially built a new stadium without entirely tearing down the old one. There are no more bleacher seats as the seating area solely consists of 4,500 chair back seats. There’s also room for a few thousand general admission fans in the grass berm areas in right and left field as well as the right field terrace area.

I've been leading the fire Gaspard cries for two years. If he doesn't show progress this year, he'll be out of excuses.

I remember seeing the Alabama guys at Alex Box looking for some inspiration. New stadium will be very nice, it looks good

Ah yes, the Jim Wells glory days of the mid to late 90s when Alabama and LSU were practically the only teams in the league with any real commitment to baseball. Those were much easier times to win and win big. Since then everybody else has invested 100x more into their baseball programs and Alabama stood still and got lapped repeatedly. Obviously this new stadium and increased commitment from the administration is a huge boost and will start paying dividends in the coming years. I'm no huge Gaspard fan, his in-game management is mind - boggling, and he'll likely be out with another bad year, but Alabama baseball's issues over the last decade have run far, far deeper than any coach.

Just makes coleman look like a bigger eyesore now that the other eyesore has been rehabbed.

The worst part about Coleman is that the outside and inside really have been prettied up. It is polished and as nice as can be. It's just the worst layout imaginable and nothing short of demolition will change it.

It doesn't look that bad. The layout of the seats inside is just terrible.

Certainly going to be a nice upgrade for Bama.

One question--what's the deal with having field turf in foul territory? LSU does this, too (and MSU?). Sure, it may be a little harder to keep it looking perfect around the plate, but I'd rather see some imperfect grass in this area rather than see the fake stuff right up against the real thing down the foul lines.

Just out of curiosity. Is Alabama's "Sewell" family the same people with all the car dealerships?

You still have to be the best to be the king, and in the facilities arms race...the best you are not.

Stick with being the best at football. Aggies will continue being the best at everything else.

There is literally not one single special thing about Kyle Field. It looks like the generic stadium you could generate in the old school NCAA football games. At least the bats gave it some charm.
