Interesting considering Gus supposedly stepped away from offensive play calling earlier in the year...

Even if Gus didn't directly intervene as much as some of us suspect, Rhett has basically been under the thumb of his mentor for his entire career.

I think it's possible Gus let him run "their" offense how Rhett wanted to, but that Rhett may want to try things that would be squarely outside of CGM's philosophy and Rhett's education.

I think we all knew better. The last two games had Gus's fingerprints all over them as far as play calling goes.

Either way, Rhett's best path for a HC position is to step out on his own and find success. If he kills it at UConn this year, he almost for sure gets a number of HC calls.

BIG loss for Auburn
Big gain if Auburn hires someone that can develop a QB. Only Nick Marshall has improved under him.

But he isn't going to get any credit for what he does under Gus no matter matter how good his Offense even does.

Tend to agree. IMO, Rhett can move up the coaching ladder faster if he gets out from under Gus' shadow.

Great move. They have a great tradition at hoops.

Gus and Rhett have same philosophy. So we're paying about 6mil for that shite offense this year. Need more creativity for that money and viable passing game no matter who takes snaps.

QB play has been the biggest problem. You could tell a huge difference in play with a healthy White verses him hurt or JJ and JF3. We hire someone that can improve the QBs and the rest will fall in line. Without that your creativity will always be limited.

It is impossible to to make that statement unless you think Gus's game plan involves 3rd string QBS and a 1st stringer with a broken arm.

Even when Rhett was given play calling duties, Gus still had the final say and Rhett was still just a yes man

Which is no different than any other team. The boss has the final say on every team and in every organization. I'm not a Gus or Rhett apologist but many posts here make no sense.

Rhett could not develop a QB and, in my opinion, he was asked to look elsewhere because of it.

We need a coach that can develop a QB much more than we need Rhett. Just my opinion.

He took a 250k pay-cut, so that may be the case.

Why do we deserve him? Because we haven't lost to Florida in 15 years?

At least he continued the tradition of signing really big recruits right before walking out the door.

That begs the question: who is going to replace Gus since he now goes back to being the OC at the barn.
