I ignored most of the threads because of people shitting on it.

This is from one of the few I posted in:, emanresu said this

quote:

Johnson will be gone in 3 years. Nice guy with a good NBA career. But not head coaching material.
LINK - there's some funny reading all throughout the thread

Ill be the first to admit I was totally wrong about the hire. I was definitely on the fire Grant train but did not think AJ was a good choice. Hes made the most out of the talent he has now. Whether that translates to further success when Bama does get talent is another thing.

I love that Avery has beaten two coaches that people thought would be better hires. Gregg Marshall and Michael White.

I've always liked Avery. He's doing a great job @ Alabama.

I admit I was one of the folks thinking it was an awful hire. He has done better than expected this year. I was also one that got real worried when Bama hired Anthony Grant. I will not express any other decisions I make on Bama basketball coaches. With that being said AJ is still not a slam dunk hire. Recruiting will make or break him. Good coaches and walk in and win with other people's players. Long term coaches can recruit their own players in and coach them

Has beaten more ranked teams this season than Grant did in his tenure here.

It will end up looking like a terrible loss but y'all were a decent team a month ago. Then Bowers gets suspended, Canty goes full Latrell Sprewell, and the wheels fall off.

Now if you beat us in the rematch, that will be a different story.......

Really felt good about our team before Dunans and Deen went down, then Bowers and Canty happened. Oh well, we're cursed this year.

I lived in Tuscaloosa during the end of the grant years and it was hard to watch. No real emotion, I watched multiple games live that ended close in the 40s. It was just a chore to attend the games and watch the product. Grant is worth is just for the increased energy in the games. I hope he will stick around for a little while .

Any idiot that says Avery Johnson was a bad hire doesn't know anything about basketball on all levels.

Considering Bama is at #12 in the recruiting rankings, with only 3 players, I think he's killing it in recruiting. He has AAU connections from his son playing in Dallas so long. Not to forget, he's got a big, extorverted personality. I think he'll continue to excel, especially if we keep playing like we've been.

I'm just going to assume you haven't paid any attention to his recruiting so far.
