quote:
"Why should we care about the Revolutionary War? That happened like a gajillion years ago, none of us were alive! It has no impact on America today." Actually, history does impact the future. Works for athletics departments the same way it does for countries. Had LSU been more successful prior to Saban's arrival, they'd have a larger national brand. Leads to more fans, more money, higher enrollment, etc. Maybe they could have gotten Tom Herman, who chose instead to attend a historically relevant program that has sucked recently.
Ok, first of all. We are talking about college football here. Let's not act like it's as important as the revolutionary war. I know it might be hard to grasp that concept as a Bama fan, but you really need to.
Second. While history can get you some fans and a degree notability, it does not dictate how the team performs now. Look no further than Notre Dame for an example of that. The problem with getting "fans" because of old history, they aren't really fans because most of them are not going to stick around if you are losing whereas a young kid who's first experience watching a national championship game could very well decide that the winner of that game will forever be his "favorite team".

Just say you picked 2000 because LSU sucked in a lot of the 90's. it's the truth. You know it's the truth and you know it's why you picked 2000.

That blond dude right next to the main guy in the center cannot be real. That is perfect caricature of a douche college kid. He doesn't look he's done anything athletic ever
