You know Ohio State doesn't have a choice right? OSU's schedule, based on the conference, can't have a top 5 schedule. Maybe in a few years Michigan and PSU will be top 25, and OSU will have 4 or so top 25 games a year. They don't control this entire thing.

Ignorant. Just throw strength of schedule out the window then?

What has to change is the weight given to strength of schedule, no matter the conference. Discount games against ranked teams at the time they are played, weight games against teams that are ranked in the final poll. There is no excuse or rationale for having a team who plays 1 or 2 ranked teams all season ranked as high as one that has played 7 or 8.

Which has what to do with this year?

Their QB going down is going to hurt them badly and they very well may lose games they would have won with him now out.

Virginia Tech is an above average team. Nothing special but they do have talent and can present problems for teams particularly on the defensive side of the ball.

Pat Dye put explained it best decades ago.

He said you can get a team to collectively play at an emotional and physical peak level about twice a year.

If you only have a couple of really tough games, you can emotionally, mentally, and physically focus and prepare to be at your best for those couple of times. You just can't get to that level over and over during the season.

I think OSU is probably the best team in country, right now, I grant you that. It's not their fault, just a flaw of college football, that they play 2 top-25 teams to get to the championship.

Yeah, their schedule's bad but they had a bad schedule last year...then they whupped Wiscy, us, and Oregon and proved they were the best team (at least of those teams in the play-off, TCU might have an argument)...I'd say they're the only team that's just 'bout a lock for the play-off this year...and I'd like another shot at 'em but, even with their schedule, they're still loaded and will be tough to beat...

I agree with you. The one thing they can't do is make their opponents better at football.

Yes it is.

When and if Arkansas becomes relevant on the big stage you get to have a say.

Virginia Tech will finish 7-5 in the ACC. Those guys are not that good. They lost 6-3 (IN DOUBLE OVERTIME) to Wake last year.

I agree with that. My point still stands.

It is what it is. There's nothing that can be done about it though.

I have to disagree about Virginia Tech. They haven't been a top-15 team in years. But, it's not OSU's fault I guess. If they played better team(s)from the other division it would be better. Wait, there aren't any.

I don't have a problem with OSU playing a shitty schedule as long as they aren't getting rewarded for it. Thus far, they have ben rewarded for it, so it sucks for CFB.

Oh, but there is. You Suckeyes just don't want to have your shitty weak schedules affect your path to the national championship, when everyone else knows it most certainly should. Idiot sportswriters pimping Boise State started this shite, Ohio State is simply using it to full advantage.

The solution is simple. Discount games against ranked teams at the time they are played, weight games against teams that are ranked in the final poll.

There is no excuse or rationale for having a team who plays 1 or 2 ranked teams all season ranked as high as one that has played 7 or 8.

The amount of ranked opponents has nothing to do with their ability to win football games. Championships are for the best teams, not the teams that played the subjectively "hardest" schedules.
