Winning the regular season and not backing it up with a tourney championship lessens by a good bit the appeal of said regular season "title" IMO.

both are pretty prestigious. however, they normally only dogpile for the tourney. that must mean something.

Half the time the regular season champion is determined by a game in which the champion isn't even playing.

Tournament champ. They shouldn't even have a regular season champ if they have a tournament. Regular season championships may be harder to get but most people consider the tournament champ to be the champion.

I didn't know that there was a group of people that actually thought that way until a previous thread like this. If it truly decided who's the champion, it would be an 8 team double elim tourney, not this silly single elim to double back to single.

The tournament's main goal is to get as many teams in the NCAA tournament as possible. Winning the conference get's you a national seed, so I would say in the grand scheme of things winning the conference is probably more valuable than this tournament, not to take anything away from the tournament champions. The SEC tourney is very difficult to win.

I think they should just do a best of series without a Loser bracket. The single game is dumb. One bad game and you lose to a team you may be alot better than.
