Football is perfect for casual fans. Only one game a week so you only really have to watch about 4.5 hours of actual sports and can spend the rest of the time watching other people talk about sports (or off-the-field incidents), or Game of Thrones, or the Bachelor, etc.

A big reason women "love" college football.

in general, yeah that many baseball games sucks.

it's hangout ball. The defense stands around 95% of the time, you get to wear a ballcap, sunglasses, and throw a dip in while you play, the pitcher usually takes his sweet time before doing anything, etc. That doesn't even take into account the offense, where the majority of the team is just sitting around spitting seeds and shooting the breeze for about 30 minutes until it's their turn again. It's boring as shite so yeah, having more games is kinda of crappy.

his entire post should be ignored considering he led off with a negative about football being "no offseason" and not realizing that baseball plays got damn near 200 games a year.

I enjoy that baseball is much more competitive, and I get tired of coverage about coaches in golf tournaments and kids getting in trouble. Football coverage is definitely over saturated for my taste, especially when other sports are going on.

I enjoy going to football games more, but I enjoy baseball more in its entirety. Only 10 teams have ever won a BCS or CFP national championship, and that is probably more diverse than what we can expect to see going forward.

It's a shame because I love football, I love college football, but I don't care about its title. Because in the future you can pick between OSU, Bama, Oklahoma, Texas, FSU, Michigan, USC, and LSU. That's pretty much going to be it. And I give almost zero shits which one wins. Hell maybe UGA or Florida climbs in, it's still stale, and in reality OSU and Bama will probably account for over 50% of the next decade.

I think you left off the part in your rant of why baseball isn't a sport because CC Sabathia is fat

I agree with a lot of this, but the fact that you only get 12-15 games per year in football drives the hype and demand. Every game is meaningful and most hardcore college football fans plan their week around Saturdays in the fall. It's a beautiful thing.

Baseball is the only sport where its fans constantly feel the need to defend it. If you like it better than football, fine. But there's a reason that the vast majority of people prefer football.

I actually agree to an extent. College Baseball is the last major sport that hasn't been overrun by the media. You don't have the hoards of bangwagon fans, mostly fans supporting their school/ alma mater. And people don't take it so seriously. Nobody is threatening to kill a 20 y/o college student after a loss. While college football is typically more exciting and a lot more at stake, I think college baseball is vastly underrated and is a hidden gem in the sports calendar.

I agree with all the reasons Tom is giving, and I really like college baseball........but I still don't enjoy it more than college football.

I enjoy the game of baseball more, probably spend more time and energy on professional baseball more (the Braves from the draft to the minor leagues to the major leagues), but I enjoy college football.

I would say I enjoy Alabama basketball almost equally to Alabama football.

I do wish all the negative aspects of college football that Tom mentioned would fade away, but at this point I just accept that they exist and try my best to ignore them.

Because America has attention spans the size of a grape, loves BIG HITS AND BEER and BEIN A MAN!

Not to mention baseball will still be a sport in 25 years. Verdict is out on football.

No it's really about who's making the playoffs and winning it all.

This is the change I've seen in college football that has disappointed me the most. In early September all the talk is about late November - as if everyone wants the season to hurry up and be over. Few fans just appreciate each game as they come anymore.

You sound like a soccer fan comparing soccer and football.

According to your criteria, soccer is better.

Great point. It's hurt discussion even more. Most people never talk about matchups, or football, it's just scenarios of how State U or State Tech can get in the playoffs.

oh Lord. It could also have to do with it, ya know...not being very exciting? I get there are purists out there who love 1-0 games and keeping the book from the stands and eating a dog with pop, and taht's fine. But let's face it, baseball in general, as a whole, is pretty boring. Minimal action, not much going on, low scores.

It has nothing to do with attention spans and everything to do with the product. Tennis is more fast paced and exhilirating than basebeall but hardly anyone GAS abotu that and it has nothing to do with attention spans.

There is plenty going on in baseball ,it's just subtle typically happens slowly. Some of us appreciate such. Other do not. I'd don't care if someone like baseball or not. Some people like Michael Bay movies more than The Godfather.

My point was more about the discussion involving the sports and fan interaction is far superior in baseball.
