So what are you selling? That you're afraid to compete? It's hard so I don't wanna work hard? What are you selling to me, right now?

Patients as well as patience stems from the Latin patio, I shall not define or decline, "to suffer."
So are you patient or a patient?

whereas the other SEC teams benefit from Alabama's fame and notoriety to benefit their image.
Ahhhhhhhhhh yes, because Tennessee at #9, Georgia at #11, LSU at #12, and Auburn at #15 in number of all-time NCAA victories all have happened since the late 1800's because of "Alabama's fame and notoriety."
That may be the most monumentally stupid post I have ever read. As Otter told Neidermeier "gee you're dumb."
I guess the real problem I've got with folks like the OP is that I have no patiences with stupid people.
Look in the mirror why don't you.....
(looks like you've got Skoal drool on your tee-shirt there)....

I am an impatient patient. I hate sitting around doctors' offices.

Those are the reasons.

Since the SECCG in 92, how many times has a 1 or 0 loss SEC champ not made the title game/playoffs? The only one offhand I can recall is Auburn in 04, where the preseason 1 and 2 teams both went wire to wire undefeated so that's really more of a case of crap luck. Are there any others? You act like if the SEC doesn't have multiple teams with 10 or 11 wins than the SEC Champ is just going to be tossed aside.
But part of that is because of the national perception of the SEC. If everyone considers the SEC crap cause we go 0-11 in the bowl season, then next year 1 of us may get left out of the playoffs.
In college football, it benefits us all inclusively to pull for each other. Also, as a Bama fan, I don't have an inferiority complex so I don't mind pulling for other SEC schools.
We get it though, you're scared of Bama.

I highly, highly doubt that when the playoff committee is making selections in December of year Y, they use December of year X as a focal point.

no, it doesn't.

as a bama fan you shouldn't GAS what other schools do because it's not going to terribly affect you. You have saban, you're in the playoffs every year, why should you care about anyone else? For the rest of us peons though, it helps when your direct compeition isn't as good.

Geez your fanbase is complete shite.

I'm sure Baylor and TCU from last year are laughing at you, hard. One of the factors in logic for why they got left out was their conference.

Yes. It. Does. I just showed how perception creeps into that selection committee. It just does. Don't fight it, just accept it. Perception becomes reality in those discussions.

Not terribly, no. We need to handle our business but yet again, perception is reality. I want the SEC to do well in the bowl season so we aren't made fun of all offseason and then that creep into pre-season rankings, which then creeps into playoff selection committee, etc.
Jesus man, this isn't that hard.

I feel like I'm the only Bama fan who isn't pulling for the rest of the SEC. We're already in the playoff, if we handle business these next few weeks who cares what the national perception of the SEC means for us? Ohio State nearly got in in a very top heavy B1G. Iowa too. As long as you win your games who cares about how "strong" your conference is?

boooo hoooooo. Is your skin so thin that a coworker making fun of auburn or espn making fun of tennessee actually bothers YOU as a bama fan? Why?

Dude....the playoff selections in december have NOTHING to do with who lost the previous year's bowl games. Damn.

Fine. Let me break it down this way.
Why does everyone hate ND football? Well, at least 1 of the main reasons. I'll hang up and listen...

I'm pulling for LSU tonight. I'd pull for LSU against just about anybody, but wanting to see Tech get their asses handed to them makes it a no-brainer for me.
The recruiting argument is fair, but every team has to beat the other SEC teams to enjoy a recruiting boost whether those teams are good or bad. I'd rather beat good teams. Baylor and TCU '14 say "Hi".

TCU got left out because they lost to Baylor. Baylor got left out because they didn't play a conference championship game, and Ohio State made an eye opening statement against Wisconsin that they were too good to be left out.
Most seasons it will be pretty cut and dry. Take the four conference champs that have 1 or fewer losses. That is going to be the scenario most of the time.

I agree to hell with SEC teams doing well. The only one that gets the benefit of the doubt is Alabama
