Thoughts from Bama fans on Godsey?

He's not very innovative like Kiffin (could be good and bad).

Classic pro style system it appears?

Kiffin had never run what Saban asked him to. Eric Kiseau was brought in as an analyst to help install much of the offense.

And you wonder why people don't like your fan base. (Or maybe you don't. And that is the problem.)

Doesn't that fit what Hurt is alluding to? Many Alabama fans are going to want a big- name, high-powered OC that will add excitement to the program, but Saban's gonna do what he thinks is best for the program, without regard to the opinion of others....bottom line: that's what he's paid to do...win.

Wasn't Godsey fired by the Texans ? Unlike Kiffin and Sark, his issues were on the field problems.

If you're gonna have that kind of attitude, you should have just made this thread on the Bama board.

Would feel better if he had any playcalling experience outside of the dumpster fire of Houston. He was hamstrung there, but he was average at best.

Would be pretty lukewarm to it.

I don't know shite about him. I do think Saban usually makes good personnel choices so I won't be worried about any hire at this point.

I'm really torn on this. On the one hand I think Alabama absolutely had to evolve with the new era of college football. The Alabama offense of 2009 likely isn't good enough anymore. There are simply going to be a couple of games a year where you have to be able to win a shootout even with the most dominant of defenses.

With that said I still favor a pro-style offense. I guess I want a new age pro-style offense that has elements of misdirection, getting athletes in space, tempo, etc that is the feature of so many college spread attacks.

well PRISONmike I really don't give a frick about what you think of me or the fan base. Hell, I don't even consider it a "problem".
And while we're on the subject, should I be afraid that if I get too many "down votes", somebody is going to come along and take away my library card?

It's really common sense for anyone with even a basic understanding of football. Yes, tempo is a necessary part of today's game. Yes, you need to score points. But an offense that cannot possess the ball and is simply a combination of big plays and three and outs, is not going to cut it. And Bama has the talent to do better.

You're exactly right. Most of these clowns can't comprehend this concept because their teams are miles away from being able to implement such an ideology.
