Well they didn't win the BCS in 03 and had to give up their 04 title. The thread title doesn't say anything about AP titles.

If you're going to add spaces for effect you have to space Saban and Caroll.

Saban is in a class of his own at this point.

It's pretty obvious USC got hosed with their sanctions anyway.

Yeah and we got hosed in the mid 90s all because one of our players signed a napkin for an agent after the Sugar Bowl. Tough shite.

Anyone putting Saban any spot other than the top is using a shiny hook

No, Carroll won at both level's so I think he is a better coach due to that.

Interesting. Perhaps you misunderstood the point of the OP. Let me refresh you on what was asked:

quote:

Rate BCS and playoff title winning coaches (1998-1999 season on)

He was asking about their college experience only (i.e. BCS and college football playoff title winning coaches)

Where does it say "college experience only" in the OP?

Title is: Rate BCS and playoff title winning coaches (1998-1999 season on)

Which would be any coach who won a title during this Era, which Pete Carroll did.

Reading comprehension, Gump.

Look, I get it. But scrolling through all of that was annoying.

Also, I'd say Jimbo and Miles are interchangeable. I'd also probably have Meyer at #2

I think there is a argument for Saban, Meyer and Carroll being the best coaches of our generation. Note, i said argument. As in, I'd listen. But I personally would have Saban at #1. But I don't think Meyer nor Carroll are far behind. Very close and all are obviously top tier coaches.

I think the point is that Saban was not there in the 90's. Carroll pulled a Roman Polanski and GTFO of there.

Except Carroll didn't win a BCS or CFP title. Reading comprehension, indeed.

2004 USC BCS NC. Vacated, but they still won it. Try again.

Anyway, he won the AP twice (for better or worse)

Wait, so NOW what happens on the field actually counts? So that means we got all of vacated wins back, sweet.

Stoops should be above Tressel, Miles, and Fisher.

Maybe if you're talking about the 2000s stoops. But the stoops this decade, no. Though if I'm grading Bowden by his 90s work maybe I should be grading stoops by his 2000s work-tough call.

My only argument would be the way it went down with Tressel. I mean osu freaking stunk.

Although the ship was righted with Meyer, he still left them in a bad spot. Got to count for something.

But I would argue the guys with 1 are all pretty close except for Chizik.
