That analysis is misleading at the least. It used google searches as data points. This was at a year when not only Auburn had won the NC, but the whole Cam ordeal was going on which pushed up the google searches. Anyone that believes that the barn has as many or more fans than Bama is out of their freaking mind.

I've seen that article several times.... Keep in mind that was during auburns NC year. I don't think a single auburn fan will say with a straight face that they have as many fans as BAMA does in the state of Alabama, let alone the nation.

Agreed. That is a valid point. However, A&M was way out front in 2011 with a really mediocre product. It's certainly not a fool proof analysis. But it's more detailed than anything else I've seen.

Alabama is 65/35 BAMA. BAMA is a bigger school than auburn and has had more success in football, which all lead to more exposure/support.

Calm down Bammers, nobody is disputing that you have more fans than Auburn.

So a Bama fan says it's bullshite with the same point I make, and it's a valid point, after you mock me.

Bring the 808 down to Athens this year and if Mizz wins, I'll give you 1000 american dollars, if UGA wins, I get the 808.

A&M was also right in the middle of the conference expansion hoopla, which led to more internet searches.

That's a great link and a good read, but not really pursuant to the topic at hand, because that extrapolates TV markets over hundreds of variables including local internet searches, the margin of error is ridiculous.

I think it's definitive and nearly flawless--especially as it relates the topic at hand.

This to an extent. From 2010 on, fans were calling for the SEC. Sometimes loudly, sometimes not but it was always at least in the background.

I really wasn't mocking you. I just think any analysis is going to be flawed. It's certainly not a foolproof analysis, but it's an analysis. It says something.

I'd agree Auburn is too high based on the circumstances. But when you look at a team like Mizzou, virtually all its supposed fans are within the state. And the search data was normed with overall Athletic department revenue. So, while Auburn could be easily behind Bama, their revenue seems to point to an easy top 20 ranking in the US.

state of Florida fans in general seem to be bandwagon between FSU, UF and Miami...

I see this posted from time to time mostly by LSU fans but I have not known a single person to switch allegiances. The hate is too strong. I get why LSU fans would not understand because of no other school of note in their state.

I guess with the influx of people from up north with no real allegiance to any particular school is what I'm getting at...
