Call me old fashioned but once a school gets over 30,000, they are getting too big for their britches.

What does that all mean

Basically nothing, unless you're in a very, very small group of people.

Well, I don't know about that. I'd think that's a pretty good predictor of how many future donors a school can expect, and also how many can be packed in to various athletic contests.

But I tend to agree with earlier post from UGA guy: over 30K is too damn many. But that could be my claustrophobia talking.

A&M System members educate more than 120,000 students and reach another 22 million people through service each year.

Jesus man, I was making jokes that not many folks on here would get that have nothing to do with football. This thread was shite and was perfect to throw some inside jokes into.

Wasn't planning on quitting. I knew damn well that no one on here was going to get that joke about DKE. The ones that would post on here sparingly

Agreed.

A&M's campus feels more like a technology or office park than "collegiate". Too big, too spread out.

I absolutely agree. Some schools handle it better than others, I suppose. I've been to A&M once (2 years ago) and it just did not have the same type of college atmosphere that I'm used to experiencing.

The brutalist architecture probably has something to do with that.

To note about LSU: Louisiana has more 4 year universities per capita than any other state......I believe we even have more colleges than Florida. It's pathetic.

Around 30,000 has been LSU's ideal number for the past few years. But last year saw a new record for number of incoming freshman, with this year's class expected to be about the same or even larger. And LSU's new president seems to be steadfast on increasing out of state student enrollment.
