I agree with LSU being above UGA. My comment was for the auburn fan who can't understand why UGA is above them in the tiers.

More wins, conference championships, and bowl appearances? Why would you not put them on different tiers?

Because you have less national championships(at least in major polls) and a losing record head to head

One unclaimed NC doesn't seem like a big deal

Most of advantages you mentioned Georgia has over Auburn aren't big deals either. A whopping two more conference championships if you truly count all time and go back to when both schools first began playing college football in the 1890's.

A full decade of bowl appearances does seen like a big deal.

Are we not going to look at heismans as well?

What about total of undefeated seasons?

Bowl games, meh, too political and arbitrary

Bowl games would be about 4th or 5th on the list of categories I would consider important and hardly a reason to justify putting any school significantly above another school all by themselves

I disagree with the first part, at least. Bowl games are (or at least were) a good metric because they ensured a non-conference game against a reasonably decent opponent. And back in the day, they weren't available to every team that managed to wrestle a .500 record out of a mediocre season. They actually meant something.

The list goes like this:

1 Bama
2 UT
3 UGA
4 AU
4 LSU
5 UF
7 Ole Miss
8 aTm
9 Arky
10 Mizzou
11 Vandy
12 Kentucky
12 SC
14 Miss State

Vandy had a bad arse team early on

LSU & UF have been great the last 25 years, but UGA is the CLEAR number 3 in conference historically.

There are THREE teams that have AT LEAST one championship EVERY decade except for one:

Bama
UT
UGA

Bama is the only team to win one every decade.

Number of wins - number of championships - winning percentage - historical consistency

UGA the clear number 3

CFB Data Warehouse's rankings for the past 75 years (since 1939)
1) Alabama (#1 overall)
2) LSU (#9 overall)
3) Florida (#11 overall)
4) Tennessee (#12 overall)
5) Georgia (#13 overall)
6) Auburn (#15 overall)
7) Arkansas (#21 overall)
8) Texas A&M (#22 overall)
9) Ole Miss (#23 overall)
10) Missouri (#30 overall)
11) Kentucky (#39 overall)
12) Mississippi State (#41 overall)
13) South Carolina (#50 overall)
14) Vanderbilt (#59 overall)

It's funny how delusional A&M fans are. They honestly believe they are on LSU's level but when the facts are placed down on paper they are on par with Ole Miss and Arkansas.

Florida's been the dominant force in the conferece since we moved to SEC title games-- 1 less SEC titles than Bama and LSU....combined.

We didn't do much prior to the 90s though, the occasional Orange Bowl and the national title in 84 notwithstanding (we don't claim it because we only claim real titles not weird sectional ones like Bama).
