That quote isn't verifiable. It comes from a book written in the 90s by an author known for tabloid style work. Did Johnson use the n-word? Absolutely. Did he say that? There's zero proof that he did and the author cites no verifiable source. It's certainly not in keeping with the sentiments Johnson expressed in private regarding civil rights that are verifiable.
