Most of the SEC has solid accounting programs, but the top 3-4 schools litter the halls at the Big 4 in the South and across the country, for that matter.

Wow I had no idea A&M and the rest of the SEC kicked arse in accounting. I hated my accounting class. A damn t sip taught it.

If there is one area where the SEC might be deeper than football it is accounting programs.

However, Texas is always #1 or #2, swapping with BYU every other year.

ISK baseball has like 8 teams in the top 20 right now, including 5 in the top 10.

I mean, if you've got a business school worth a shite, you've got to have a strong accounting program.

little more specific by saying elite

Don't know about the other programs you mentioned but nobody in the veterinary community considers aTm elite. That is reserved for only a few schools.

It has dropped a few spots over the last few years, but still fairly high.
1. 6th in the world, 3rd in the US
2. #3 in the US
3. Tied in 7th

Outside of its academic rep, there is nothing particularly appealing to me about Vanderbilt.

If I had to do it over again I would not even attend an SEC school. The only one I would have seriously considered attending would be UGA.

LSU is ranked 18th in Veterinary Medicine (www.veterinary-startclass),(A&M is 3rd in that one) LSU is #5 in Internal Auditing and #1 in Landscape Architecture. Also have well respected curricula in Geophysics, Hurricane Engineering, Coastal Studies,
Mass Communications, Music&Dramatic Arts, Design, Agribusiness, MBA Program, Law, Forensic Anthropology, Petroleum Engineering, etc.

The Journalism and History programs used to be top tier.

Can't cheat effectively if you suck at hiding your improprieties on the balance sheet. The SEC kicks arse at accounting solely so they can kick arse in football.

If I had not gotten into A&M I would have probably gone to LSU.

With that being said, here would be my choices today.

1) A&M
2) LSU
3) Auburn
4) Arkansas
5) UGA
6) Florida.

If you live in Texas and can get into A&M then the rest of the list is moot.

You specifically said elite. It was the point you were trying to make. aTm is a good vet school but not considered elite within the profession. No SEC school has what most of us consider to be one of the elite schools.

Most of us look at those the Ivy league ones plus UC Davis as elite and then consider all the rest to be about the same with some strengths in certain areas.

We're talking about 30 schools here which is why outside of those top 1 or 2 spots nobody ever cares about vet school rankings or talks about them (except those not in the profession).
