I mean do high school kids really do that? Talking about the vast majority and not the ones applying to Ivy league schools. When I was in high school I don't remember anyone actually saying that they picked their school over another because of some ranking. It normally had something to do with family or what the school had in terms of majors.

There are 23 majors in the Dwight Look College of Engr. The College of Ag & Life Sciences has about double that. I would call that more than a few.

And I can agree a lot of schools can be good at some things. I was trying to be a little more specific by saying elite.

When I was living in Orlando:

1. Florida
2. Vanderbilt
3. Georgia

After I moved to Dallas:

1. Texas A&M
2. Vanderbilt
3. Florida

Excluding LSU (Where I went for undergrad, and now law school and MBA):
1. Vandy
2. UGA
3. Tenn
4. Auburn
5. Bama
6. Ole Miss

I know A&M is a fantastic school. I had many friends attend A&M, but after growing up in Texas I wanted to see what other states were like so I went out of state.

1. UF - solid academics, beautiful women, and no real men on campus to compete with
2. Vandy - Academics, great city and culture.
3. LSU - It is the life I have always known, traditions, tailgating etc.
4. A&M - better academics than LSU and I have a lot of military friends who live in Texas so I would get to see my brothers.
5-12 I would simply never have to resort this far down on any wish list I have.

me rephrase. I wouldn't go to any college in the South, except App State or Davidson.

What? Other than being in the same state, these schools have nothing in common.

No one? Nah. Most schools? Yes. Most schools aren't like A&M academically. Sorry it hurt your feelings.

Not really.

Alabama is elite in Accounting and Communications (Top 10 nationally).

Texas A&M actually has a very good (Top 10-15, depending on year) Accounting program as well.
