Forgot about USC and Moore. Don't think they have a better overall group than AU though.
UK was actually the next team I thought of but I wasn't sure if my memory was right so I left them off.

Moore can play ball. He was all over the place last year against us and others.

Kentucky might be pretty good at LB this year. After spending a year and a half in transition, the 3-4 is here to stay.

OLB (Sam) - Jason Hatcher 6'3 252, 28 tackles, 5.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 QBH
MLB - Josh Forrest 6'3 255, 110 tackles, 8.5 TFL, 2 INTs, 1 sack, 1 PBU, 2 QBH, 1 FF
WLB - Ryan Flannigan 6'2 225, 57 tackles, 1.5 TFL, .5 sacks, 1 PBU
OLB (Jack) - Jabari Johnson 6'1 272, 20 tackles, 4.0 TFL

Johnson and Hatcher split time at Jack last season, with Johnson the better run defender and Hatcher the better pass rusher. Flannigan split time with Khalid Henderson (and Henderson started the first 7-8 games) but after totaling 23 tackles and a PBU in the final two games, has assumed the starting WLB spot.

Johnson will be backed up (and pushed by) Denzil Ware, a 6'2 255 rFR and former 4* recruit.

This isn't the best group in the SEC, but is returning a lot of production and some talent.

I'm looking forward to Forrest's production this season and I believe Flannigan was one of the standouts in the offseason with his progress.

No troll, just a request for refresher, who does AU have at LB that makes you put them this high?
People have been raving about Auburn's linebackers, and rightly so, IMO. Kris Frost and Cassanova McKinzy have been very good, and Tre Williams is about to be on the field a lot. Plus, we have to consider how huge it will be having Will Muschamp coaching the defense.
quote:

NFL Media draft analyst Chad Reuter believes NFL teams will consider Auburn senior ILB Cassanova McKinzy "in the class of Mississippi State's Benardrick McKinney, who was a second-round pick in 2015."

"[McKinzy] makes life difficult for SEC running backs between the tackles, but he also possesses enough speed to cut plays off on the sideline," Reuter wrote. The 6-foot-3, 253-pounder recorded 91 tackles and 11 TFL in 2014. That was the most TFL of any Tigers' LB since Karlos Dansby also had 11 in 2003. McKinzy has the versatility to play inside and outside.

Kris Frost is terrible. I watched the Au and TAMU replay then the Iron Bowl replay last night and his play was awful. He rarely covered anybody and missed tackle after tackle. Cass is solid and Williams should be also, but Frost gets lost in games too much.

Frost never played LB before he came to Auburn and is on his 4th different DC and defensive system. He was mainly a WR in HS. He played some safety but was basically a center fielder with little coaching. He's had to learn the position and defense over and over basically. He has some WTF moments with mental slip ups but he's as talented and physically gifted as any LB.

There's no way LSU is 4, unless the SEC as a whole is that bad at lb. Beckwith is a stud, sure. Lamar Louis and Jones are great athletes that haven't put it all together. Duke Riley has the makings of a solid lb, but after that it's a mess for LSU.

Beckwith is a beast and I see him posting an equal or better year than Kevin Minter in 2012.

LSU's starting unit is good. Lamar Louis is good whenever he is on the field, it's just that Chavis liked to go 5 DBs a lot which put him on the bench a lot.

Debo has been a playmaker when he has gotten the chance, but now he'll have to do it for a whole game.

Riley is underrated IMO, and will show up big time in 2016.

LSU has a solid starting unit with Beckwith having a chance to be an All American. We should be no worse than number five.

Yeah, I very well could be. But I want to see how he does without AJ by his side. I have no doubt he'll put together another 100+ tackle season. I won't be surprised if he's household name by the end of the year.

I wouldn't want to be a qb in a passing situation looking at all of the bastards with their ears pinned back coming at me.
