Rank the best LB groups in the SEC

Everybody knows Bama and UGA are the top two per usual.
After that, I may be biased but I honestly don't think Auburn is that far behind those two. Cass McKinzy and Kris Frost are both seniors and 3 year starters. Both are highly ranked LB prospects for the upcoming draft. The 3rd starter will be Tre Williams who was a 5* out of HS and last year as a true freshman looked better IMO than Cass and Frost. True Freshman Jeff Holland might be the next guy off the bench, he's already 240 and looks like a monster and Muschamp is expecting big things from him.
My ranking:
1. UGA
2. Bama
3. Auburn
4. Mizzou
5. LSU
6. South Carolina
7. UK?
8. MSU?
9. Florida?
10. Tennessee?
11. Arkansas?
12. Ole Miss?
13. Vandy?
14. Texas A&M

No troll, just a request for refresher, who does AU have at LB that makes you put them this high?

There's no way LSU is 4, unless the SEC as a whole is that bad at lb. Beckwith is a stud, sure. Lamar Louis and Jones are great athletes that haven't put it all together. Duke Riley has the makings of a solid lb, but after that it's a mess for LSU.

Refer to the largest section of text in the OP, right above my ranking, where I already addressed this. All 3 of our starters will be drafted and play on Sunday.

If you count Lawson as an OLB then I could see 3rd. I would probably say 4th or 5th if not.

I agree. I think Auburn's LB have the potential to be good this year. I think Auburn's defense in general will be pretty good although I think they have some depth issues at spots and they may have some early growing pains in the transition to Muschamp.

We should probably be in the lower half. Other than Brooks Ellis we don't have a proven LB returning. Really one of the only questions I have about our D.

I would guess lsu, Florida, and auburn all have decent linebackers. ole miss is very thin at linebacker. Nkemdiche is solid and Johnson will be good against the run, but our depth at linebacker is not good

UT is up there if you consider Curt Maggitt an OLB. He's a DE in the 4-2 Nickel package and OLB in the base 4-3.
Jalen Reeves-Maybin is one of the better LBers in the SEC, but not elite like Leonard Floyd, Ragland, Beckwith, etc.
The MLB will likely be Dillon Bates. He got plenty of PT as a true freshman last year before getting injured at Oklahoma.
I'd put UT in the 5-7 range.

USC's linebackers suffered from a turrible defensive line and green DBs
Skai Moore and Johnathan Walton will be both be All-SEC at the end of the year. Skai Moore on the first team

You're underestimating Beckwith, albeit you called him a stud. He could reach AA status this season and the surrounding cast has some experience and serious athleticism. LSU definitely looks to be in the top third of the SEC at LB; Top half in Dline and #1 in the DB. I consider them no less than top 3 as a team defense to start the season.

Moore is good. I've never noticed Walton. That's not necessarily bad, but it's not good either. Allen-Williams should be good.

I actually like Auburn's depth at LB. Not many elite guys after the starters, but several "solid" guys and some good experience.
DeShaun Davis has gotten lots of praise this offseason and will end up good IMO.
Cam Toney, Kenny Flowers, and Justin Garrett are all "solid" with experience and could probably start for bottom half SEC teams. Javy Mitchell has good experience.
We just signed a great class of LB's. Jeff Holland and Darrell Williams were both highly ranked and already 240+ and ready to play. Richard McBryde needs some weight but another good 4* prospect.
Auburn is 3 deep with quality LB depth. We've come a long way since Chizik and Jake Holland.

I think you're selling Reeves-Maybin a little short. His stats last year as a first year starting sophomore were superb. 101 tackles and 11 TFL (most of any returning LB iirc). I think he's definitely on the same level as Ragland and Beckwith.

State has to be 14th; gonna finish dead last...

Walton didn't show how good he was until the UF game when he moved the weak side and Moore to the middle. Walton was bigger so the coaches wanted him in the middle but he couldn't handle the play calling or something so he wasn't on the field much.
Walton was all over the place after the switch. And Moore has added weight during the offseason now that he is in the middle
