Drama queens much?

You get 6 responses, mostly from LSU fans that don't post here much, and all of a sudden no LSU fans watch UF or can answer the questions...

I think UF has a great defense, and it doesn't really matter about the competition; its the body of work. They have some physical corners and a great 4 man pass rush. This game will pivot on whether or not they can rattle Mett with a 4 man rush. If they have to send extra bodies, Mett is going to gash them on the mismatches (look for tightends and rb's to get more passes) and we know what Hill can do if he gets through that front line of defenders if they stack the box.

As far as our O, we are legit. Our line hasn't completely gelled, but is big and young and talented. Our playmakers are sick, and they're finally showing it.

Looks like 3 of UF's problems to me.

Since the Toledo and Miami games, UF has been surprisingly under control with penalties...

As for the other 2 though...

Oh really?

I'm not looking for a unanimous vote here. I said I was curious about the consensus:

Consensus = a general agreement; the judgment arrived at by most of those concerned

Most = the majority of

Majority = a number that is greater than half of a total

I would assume it would be fairly easy to spot check the responses to the question to determine what the majority believe.

I feel the same way I did before last year's matchup. Strong UF defense vs Strong LSU offense. the only two differences are that it's played in death valley and Mett has made a 180 degree improvement. Edge LSU.

A consensus can be reached by plurality, especially when the assertion is subject to gradation--like the ones being asked about in this thread. So it is with regret that we must reject all of your definitions.

Our offense was hot garbage last year though. Last year was strong defense versus strong defense. Then Kwon broke his ankle and Minter couldn't make 28 tackles without getting an IV. Tough times. I expect this game to be much different but still very entertaining.

I don't think you know what gradation means. I've asked an either or question of each fan base. Gradation would imply a process or series of changes to the scenarios.

Actually, I know exactly what it means. It looks like you might not know about how words can have more than one meaning, which isn't all that shocking.

UF penalties v ranked opponents

vs. Toledo - 10 penalties
@ Miami - 10 penalties
vs. Tennessee - 6 penalties
@ Kentucky - 5 penalties
vs. Arkansas - 8 penalties (all in the 2nd half)

So my point is valid. Since the first 2 games, UF has done better on penalties.

You just quickly looked up total penalties to fit your argument.

You asked a question seeking mutual exclusivity when it doesn't apply. You also have a screen name that implies you're the type of person that can't wait to go buy the newest Tide champeenship t-shirt(s). There's typically a very specific posting pattern with Alabama fans whose screen names reference national titles. Forgive people for not taking your questions seriously.

Sorry next time I'll just make a general statement with nothing to back it up except my insecurities about people badmouthing my team.

Better?

Both units are legitimately good. UF's defense doesn't make mistakes and Mett is very accurate. Neither of those things should be affected drastically by level of competition.

The game will be decided by LSU's bad defense versus UF's bad offense. In my slightly homer opinion, our defense continues to improve and we win on a few turnovers.

That's reasonable from a LSU fan.

Our offense also continues to improve and we could win on a few turnovers.

LSU fans - do you think UF's defense is really good, or is it just they've played weak offensive teams in your opinion?

I think it's really good, but will be tested more than in previous games.

LSU's opponents over the last few years have learned to respect the Tigers running game, loading up the box and daring the QB to beat them through the air. This has also been the case this season, the difference is that Mettenberger has been able to get the ball behind the defense.

I suspect UF will similarly try man coverage while focusing on LSU Rbs. It won't take them long, however, to realize that they can't cover both WRs man-to-man, so they will adjust - probably earlier than other teams have been doing. I anticipate covering deep, giving LSU the short passes, with occasional blitzes from the LBs.

It'll be how LSU can get the ball to the TEs and FBs that may determine the outcome here.

Oh yeah, LSU is going to kick Alabama's arse in Tuscaloosa this year.

Anyone on either side who thinks this will be a blowout is fooling themselves. LSU's offense is solid and UF's defense is just as solid. It will be a good game and I think turnovers will make the difference. I can see either team winning but whoever does it will be under 7.

My apologies in advance for injecting some logic to this discussion.
