You gator fans are transparent as frick. One loss and most of you will scatter like the fricking roaches you are.

We lived through Boom, a man who brought us low-- there are two key differences between Florida Low and Volunteer Low: 1) Even when we suck we still beat the Vols and
2) Florida was always going to be back someday, Tennessee on the other hand is like Nebraska-- a program that used to be elite but now with the relative parity in coverage and talent can't compete because it lacks an elite central recruiting base. See schools like Florida, USC, Texas and Alabama can always bounce back with a good coach since they just need to start locking down a 250 mile or so circle around campus and boom- top ten within a season; title contention by year 3.

Well, they did the same thing to the Buckeyes when they had Tebow and the loser gator fans just were totally classless.

Dude.

Pretty sure the majority of the "classlessness" that came out of Gator fans after the 2006 national championship was in direct response to the unbelievable amount of bullshite Ohio State fans poured on the Gators and Gators fans the whole month leading up to that game. It was like the game was already over, crown the Buckeyes champs now, the Gators don't even belong on the same field. Just amazing amounts of pompous crap.

And then we skulldragged their team on national television. Revenge is a dish best served cold and I really can't blame any of us for returning the garbage that got spewed at us from Buckeye fans.

As far as worst fanbase, that's naturally going to be relative to personal experience. I honestly find FSU to be the worst of anyone, period. Growing up a Gator fan, I had nothing but torment from FSU fans... and I am talking both young boys and grown-arse men being absolutely juvenile and disgusting to a young girl. You'd think a woman simply wearing her team's colors and cheering for her team while not saying a damn thing about rivals or to rivals would get along okay, but nope, nothing but torment from FSU fans my whole life. Can't say that about UGA fans or UT fans or any other rivals. Hell, I had a great time tailgating and drinking with UT fans this year and for several years in the past.

So, you think we're the worst. I think you are the absolute bottom of the cesspool.

Spurrier. 100% awesomeness.

Don't get me wrong. I loved the Meyer, Tebow, Harvin, Spikes, etc era.

But Spurrier brought a kind of arrogance that has gone unmatched.

This. Seriously, OSU fans and their proxies in the media (Herbstreit) basically treated us like we somehow conned our way into the title game and usurped their rightful chance to play Michigan again, we weren't a just a team they were going to beat, they were going to punish Florida and show the dumb hick voters from the South that Danielson had tricked them into putting some scrub team in the title game.

Turns out it was the one of the most lopsided title game of the BCS era.

Yeah, 52-20 you beat FSU. Congrats. But your got dam fans acted like you cured every form of cancer. Have some humility for God's sake. FSU fans weren't all obnoxious when they beat Nebraska in the '93-'94 game. As far as Ohio State, you'd have to give them a pass for winning last year. That was the first time they ever beat an SEC team in a bowl game. Second if you count the Arky game, which still counts as a loss for the Hawgs.

The Spurrier era

That changed the Florida program forever. It was when they went from solid program with unlimited potential to true powerhouse. They will never return to the pre-Spurrier days, in spite of a bad season every now and then. He fundamentally changed the history of the Gator program and fan base.

Meyer.

His record vs our four main rivals(FSU, Miami, Georgia, and Tenn) and one more national title do it for me. If you include Zook then the answer is Spurrier. But Spurrier had a losing record to FSU. It's close, but 1 National title more and the destruction of rivals puts Meyer as the best experience to me.

To me, in 50 years people will remember national titles, not conference titles.

I'm not in anyway downplaying SEC titles, but the ones that hang forever are the Nattys

Does anyone have that screenshot of the ESPN poll map prior to that game? It asked who would win, and the whole country voted Ohio State...except EVERY SEC state.

Also a CSB for you. My brother, living in DC at the time, worked with a couple of Ohio State fans. They knew he was an SEC guy, so they were giving him shite. They asked his prediction and his response was "well, there's no doubt in my mind that Florida will win, I'm just not sure how much of a blowout it will be". They laughed their asses off like he was crazy. The day after the game, they couldn't even bring themselves to talk to him. When they did finally, he said, "it was about what I expected, but I just didn't figure on that kickoff return for OSU making the score closer than I thought it would be".

Well I guess now you know how people in Columbus felt when Miami was supposed to roll Ohio State in '03. I was rooting for the Buckeyes because of my obvious vitriol for the Canes. All month people were saying that Ohio State would get murdered like Nebraska did the year before. Well despite what everyone thinks about that PI call in the end zone, the OSU linebackers dominated that game. So did their DBs. Kellen Winslow absolutely balled out in that game, but he couldn't do it alone once McGahee got his knee bent backwards. The better team won that night.

Many on these boards were saying that Auburn was going to roll the Noles two years ago. I didn't understand that because the eye test said otherwise but I know how obnoxious fan bases can be at times. I give Auburn a ton of credit in that game. They were up big at halftime on FSU and it took a near perfect drive at the end to win it. OSU ( I have family up there) was not given a chance vs the Tide. They rose up and were more physical. No harm no foul. You can't win them all. Bama is still the benchmark in college ball, but it's good to see some other elite teams from other conferences can't hang in there, too.

It's funny, because a discussion with a Buckeye fan was what made me ask this question. His thoughts were the same as yours.

That's sort of dumb to lump these 3 together.
I don't think Bama fans refer to the past as the Ears Whitworth - Bear Bryant - Ray Perkins era.

I'm honestly shocked this has caused so much confusion. I guess I should have been more clear.

The point of this thread wasn't about comparing coaches. It was about whether or not they preferred consistently great football or reaching the top of the mountain one more time. That's why I lumped those guys in.
