Hell, I don't know. He died when I was about 6 years old. Since he was never caught cheating, I'm going to say he didn't. What was cheating in the 60's anyway? I don't know. I know people bitch about him signing so many players, but that was completely within the rules back then. Don't fault the guy for excelling at the game.

Question for Bama fans
I've had the pleasure of knowing several Bama players (many of which are truely outstanding people) and hearing what they have to say about football in the 60s and 70s.
My question to the Bama posters: Do you believe Bear Bryant (or associated Bama boosters) cheated during his great run in the 60s and 70s? Not trying to pick a fight, just wondering where most Bama poster sit on this issue.
Maybe, but more than likely he wasn't because of who he was.....plus he was never charged/penalized for doing anything illegal.

This is the thing with Auburn fans. HAR HAR THE BEAR'S DEAD. Well, first of all, of course he's dead. Dude was hella old. Then he died. If he hadn't died back then, he surely would have died at some point between then and now.
Second of all, do you know who else is dead? Shug Jordan. The difference is that nobody gave a shite about that dude while he was alive, and nobody cares about him now that he's dead. He's a nobody. Your greatest coach ever is a complete nobody. I don't have the first clue who "Hare" is either. And please, don't tell me, because I simply don't care.
And to answer your question: no, Coach Bryant didn't cheat. There you go.

Bear would sign kids just to keep them away from another team but he never paid or gave extra benefits to players to play. My high school coach was AA linebacker for Coach Bryant and I have an All SEC fullback that lives in my town and I have spoken to both about this subject before and both said with great conviction that no players in there time which was the 60's ever was paid to their knowledge. FYI

Ease up on the Shug Jordan crap! Coach Jordan was a very good man and did a great deal of good in the lives of countless other young men from the state of Alabama.
I will give you one such example. Ever heard the name John Croyle? How about his son Brodie? Do you know what John did with his life instead of going to play pro football even tho he was an all-american from The U of A? Big Oak Boy's Ranch was started by John with a gift from BOTH Coach Bryant and Shug Jordan.
Show a little class! Do not screw with the reputation of a good man just because you don't have the sense or the class to know who you are talking about before you launch into some BS at his expense.

Everyone should apply this logic to the Cam Newton situation.

Better coach, maybe. Better man, think not.

You left out the name of 1 major contributor who gave him a nice down payment.
hint- the individual you left out donated his signing bonus.
what years were you a player at UA? I had a brief stint at USM (82) before health issue ended my college days before it really got started.

Doesn't quite work since Cecil has admitted to shopping his son.
Good try though

If you don't think the Cam Newton situation is the same as the Cecil Newton situation then you must think Cam has no relationship at all with his father.

Dude, get some reading comprehension skills. I quoted someone who said "What I believe or think is irrelevant, there's no proof provided to me that he did or didn't." The point was there is no proof that Cam did anything wrong. I know you want him to have but the point is there is no proof.

You're forgetting that all these people already KNOW more than the NCAA about this situation. What are you thinkin man? They know more about Cams relationship with his father than Cam and Cecil for god sakes. You must be out yo mind.

Meanwhile, down on the plains, nobody is aware of the stealing, cheating, and soliciting that their "heisman" qb is guilty of.
