Think bama lost by 14 in that one. I know bama scored on a long pass in the final seconds to get it under 20.
Eta: it was 10. Bama scored and went for 2 in the final seconds. To cut it from 28-10.

Yeah I got the 2005 and 2004 one's mixed up. But Bama was ahead 13-6 I think at the half in 2004 and didnt lose by a lot.
And you could say that 2004 Auburn was better than 2010.
And Bama was 6-6 but a very bad 6-6.

It's worse to get blown out. When your team loses a close game, they've at least earned the respect of the other team and anyone watching the game. There's nothing respect worthy about curling up in a fetal position and praying for the clock to run out.

depends on how the season is going. Obviously in 2012, by the time of the iron bowl, no one really cared

When it comes to playing the ib what in your mind is worse
Losing the way bama did last year or just getting completely blown out

I will say that the internet and media saturation also causes close losses to sting more (and close wins to feel better).
It's not just that the opposing fans don't say anything when you lose by a lot, but you barely get to enjoy the win because soon after the game is barely a footnote.
A close win, especially one with a dramatic ending, gets replayed over and over again. The most memorable games for Alabama fans over the past few years are the 2012 SECCG and 2012 LSU game. Auburn is our rival, but there is little joy after the game is done in obliterating them in a two year stretch to the tune of 91-14. It's closer to putting a dog out of its misery than winning a race against a greyhound.

Wouldn't know. Auburn has never blown Bama out.

We have the largest margin of victory in the IB.

Yeah, I blame that on Bama's lack of leather helmets. We had to play with 8 guys.

The reason why I ask is that for me I'd rather LSU just get blown out than lose on the last play (which for the most part is the same thought as most fans) but being you guys have one of the most heated rivalries Id have to imagine getting destroyed by your rival has to be worse right?
To Auburn fans it is like 2011 and 2012 never occurred. Those teams sucked so bad that the apathy before the game did not allow them to be disappointed. It always stings worse to lose in a tight hard fought game, especially if you win you probably play for third straight BCS title.
That being said personally I couldn't stand to watch Bama get the wood laid to them by Auburn. That would be worse to me than losing a competitive game.

Blowouts suck worse in the scheme of things. Especially now going forward with a Playoff system. Blowouts = your season is over. Close losses = you still have a fighters chance.
Ask LSU.
ETA: All jokes aside, anyone that says a close loss is worse than a blowout has a losers mentality. Any true competitor knows that if your close in a game, there's always a shot of winning. Anything less, is a defeatist and sorry-arse attitude. I'll even go so far to say that people with this attitude don't actually compete in ANYTHING in life.

1893, 1895, 1900, 1901, 1902, 1904, 1955, 1956, 1957 and 1969 were all blow out wins in favor of Auburn.
We also know 2005 was a blow out thankfully for Alabama Auburn had CTT and we let off the gas offensively. To make it seem close.

Well to be fair, Bama lost a lot of great ballplayers in the civil war. Your guys were too scared to fight for their homeland.

When was that? My records show that the Alabama win in the 1948 IB of 55-0 was the largest margin of victory. That record could've easily been broken in 2012 if Saban had not called off the horses after immediately after halftime.

Yup you are right. I thought our 48 point win was the highest.

We won by 40 in 1957...quick use the Korean war as to why.

The first blow out listed was 29 years after the civil war. How old were the boys on Bama's roster back then?
