Last year I used to hear y'all's band play Dixie (fast Dixie) pretty often. (Just hearing it in the background while watching y'all's games on tv) but I haven't heard it any this year. Did y'all quit playing it completely or did y'all slack back on it or something? Just wondering. It is a cool sounding tune.

The band plays Dixie after turnovers.

We usually play it twice a game or so. It seems like we make sure it's during a commercial break

Ok somebody on here said y'all don't play it anymore but y'all do play a remix version of it that fans aren't happy with & somebody said y'all still do play it a couple times a game so I'm not sure but I will get to watch the whole game this weekend so I'll be listening.

Anyways, thanks. My question is answered, y'all haven't completely stopped playing it. Just cut back on it & remixed it a little I guess.

PC police has destroyed Ole Miss's traditions. everything from Colonel Reb, Dixie with love and the rebel flag. People have claimed the words "Ole Miss", refers to a slave woman calling her master. I guess Ole Miss should bend over for this too. Do you see how stupid all this is? I don't care if it sounded racist, and how it looked racist. It wasn't and all they did was stroke the fat cats cocks up north to please them. They had zero clue about Ole Miss customs and traditions and they shite all over it and you people let them. but hey, congrats on the black bear.

I don't agree with the political correctness rampage our administration went on in the 2000s. Most Ole Miss men and women do not.

However, the debate will remain an integral part of any substantial act the University will seek to take in the near future.

It's similar to the Supreme Court's recent overruling of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, in my opinion. At some point, we, as the jurisdictions disparately affected by the VRA did, will have enough; at some point, the past is the past. Hopefully, a neutral party makes the correct ruling and stops punishment that should have ended years ago.

So we can expect that sooner than we should?

What other schools played Dixie and when did they stop?

I know UGA did and so did Florida (Ole Miss band plays the "University of Florida" version of Dixie.)

Also, "From Dixie with Love" was written for the University of Iowa band and they still play it once a year.

Im not fore sure but I think Ole Miss is the only college who plays it. Didn't realize that about them playing Florida's version & didn't know Georgia used to play it. I'm amazed Ole Miss still plays it but good for them. It's a southern thing & I just like how it sounds.. The tune of it sounds cool & catchy. Also had no idea about Iowa playing From Dixie With Love. Certainly wouldn't have guessed that. Is everything you said 100% for sure?

It direct hurt us in recruiting. There is a direct correlation to our recruitimg bump Over the last 5-7 years and the seperation of old southern culture by the University. 16-18 year old kids believe what they are told, when told about Oxford in a negative aspect, when they have never been there. Especially when this stereotype is supported by the university on TV on gameday (Col., TSWRA, confederate flag). There is a reason when we get recruits to campus for a visit we have a very high rate to get said player when they realize if is nothing like they have been told it is. I want to win. frick the symbols and being a perennial dumpster fire.

I have always loved From Dixie With Love. I hope someday the university will be able to play it again. Beautiful song IMO.
