8-5 this year full of excuses

8-5 Nick Marshall's final year

Why do Gus supporters forget this? Jarrett Stidham is NOT better than Nick. It's time to cut Gus loose.

But you have defensive savior Steele to go along with Stidham. That will make all the difference.

Stidham is only a sophomore and you've concluded Marshall is better?

Auburn has painted itself into a really bad spot.

A high profile coach will never take the Auburn job now.

Tommy did a decent job. Fired

Chiz takes you to the natty? Fired few years later

Gus takes you to natty? Prob fired this year

Your problem is using Alabama as a benchmark for success. There is no way to keep the fan-base happy.

Well our offense was awesome Nick's last year our defense just sucked. We seemingly are turning a corner defensively so it stands to reason if we could get our offense back to playing at a high level we might have something.

With that said I lose more and more confidence in Gus every time I watch him coach to the point where I might agree with you that it won't matter who the QB is.

One is a QB, the other was a DB pretending to be a QB

We have MAYBE 4 plays in our playbook. We make ZERO adjustments. Case closed.

That offense will not work and has not worked without a dominant running QB.
Also, Nick Marshall's final year was all about no defense. They scored plenty enough to win besides the Georgia game.

He deserves another year at least even though I agree with you in intent. He took us to the Sugar Bowl and finished the regular season with second-highest ranking in the conference. If we fired him after that, we really would never get another coach worth anything. It's a perception thing at this point.

I think he's in over his head, but firing him at this point would be sabotage. I doubt he turns it around, but he needs another year or two to be given that chance.

Tubs fired by Jay Jacobs, and underperformers Chiz and Gus hired by Jay Jacobs. I think I see the problem here...

Nick was a great college qb. Lightyears ahead of anything lsu has trotted out on the field. Just a kickoff return from winning the nattie.

That gus lost 5 games with him as qb is beyond belief, and it's only been downhill from there.

No change this year but short of 10 wins and beating bama or georgia, gus is fired after next season.

1) Tubbs averaged 8.5 wins per season over 10 seasons and that was when Bama was on probation. He resigned, his son came back to Auburn, Tubs is back in the Auburn area (Lake House) and he loves Auburn.
2) Chiz - Lost the team, went 0-8 in the conference, 3-9 overall and suffered some truly embarrassing losses. He averaged 8.25 wins per season. He had to be fired. A lot of reasons for this, but he had to be fired.
3) Gus averages 8.75 wins per season (over 4 seasons)

Gus will be fired next year if he does not do well. LSU, UGA both fired coaches with much more impressive resumes.

Gus was just in the Sugar Bowl. I can't understand how he is on the hot seat.

No QB development

Very limited playbook

Never a plan B when something won't work

ZERO in game adjustments

Is there any point in firing Gus if you we can't/won't land someone the caliber of Chip Kelly/Mark Dantonio/Gary Patterson?

I was really surprised by the lack of offense against OU. I haven't seen AU play much this season until the other night and the offense just looked very vanilla and predicable.

As someone with first hand knowledge, when he doesn't have a QB who is at least a threat to stretch the field, his playbook shrinks to about a 1/3rd its size. Jet sweeps and dive plays with a FB will only get you so far.

I would think Lawson will go pro. Also lose your other top defender to graduation. Sure, there's talent, but nothing like those two in the fold.

I think defense is going to be the biggest problem next season.
