I wish Bama still had a competitive baseball team.
Im going to check out their new facility this season. I believe attendance is up there.

TCU has one of the most stacked squads on paper that I can remember preseason in the sport. Luken Baker should be back pitching this year too, he dominated before they shut him down last year

Im going to the Houston classic too. Cant wait.

i knew theyd be good but didnt realize they were that talented. everytime i hear of a loaded ball club i cant help but think of our '09 team that was preseason #1 and only won like 38 games before losing in the regionals. Just the worst sport to have high expectations and im glad A&M doesnt this year.

I think you will like the new "Joe". Facilities are not an excuse anymore.

2000 - 2002 somewhere in there the Gamecocks were loaded ...
#1 for something like 51 games. #1 seed headed into the post season. May have been the first year of super regionals ... I dunno
Gamecocks looked invincible.
Ran into a U La La team in the supers with one of the best mid major pitching staffs I had ever seen ... and that was that. I think U La La had six pitchers off of that staff drafted.in the first six rounds maybe, including a couple of first and second rounders.

It was 2000. They had 3 pitchers drafted in the first 9 rounds and another drafted in the 17th round in the 2000 draft.

what happened to this program?
Jim Wells retired, and Mitch Gaspard ran it into the ground. His first few successful seasons were because of Jim's players.
Hopefully Greg Goff can rebuild the program and get us back to the CWS.

Same thing happened to A&M in 89. We ran into LSU who hit a few bombs in the old style regionals and it was all she wrote. 58-5 going into the regionals.

You've got a better memory than do I. I was thinking that U La La staff was drafted over the course of two or three drafts, not just he 2000 draft. I may be wrong. My memory is slipping somewhat but I'm pretty sure they had six off of that staff drafted. Six that actually pitched against the Gamecocks that weekend.
At any rate, I was there, they were dominating on the mound. But I get the years and years of baseball post seasons all jumbled up in my head sometimes. I remember the 75 and 77 run better than I do the 2000-2005 run sometimes for some reason. I may have been drinking more during that time frame, I dunno.

Added the coaches poll.
It really looks like the West after LSU is wide open at this point. A&M and Ole Miss are the most obvious contenders, but I wouldn't count out Arkansas or State.
The Big 3 in the East are still the Big 3. It doesn't look like anyone outside of UF, USC, & Vandy are getting any recognition at all.
