Same thing happens in the B1G every year too yet the NCAA keeps doing it.

MASSIVE difference between the Big Ten Network and the longhorn network.

One is available to all providers, covers 14 schools, and is tied in to Fox, which has the World Series.

One is available nationally to 2 providers and regionally to about 3 more and only covers one school. That same one already got smacked down by the NCAA for trying to circumvent bylaws.

Since this season has been a disappointment anyway, I'd refuse to play if I had to be televised on the longhorn network. Then again, Eric Hyman is on the selection committee so he'd have to weigh the interests of the school with his $75,000 kickback if we make the postseason.

Not when it comes to college baseball. B1G will watch softball before they watch baseball.

SR Virginia - R Ole Miss
SR Florida - R Texas
SR Florida State - R Houston
SR Oregon State - R Cal Poly
SR Louisiana Lafayette - R Rice

SR Miami Fl - R South Carolina
SR Louisiana State - R Oklahoma State

other schools in...

true me either - but if the Hogs are put in Austin the horns would probably demand the committee assign the lowest possible seed to Arkansas that's not a 4 - out of spite.

kinda hoping y'all get assigned there so you can beat Texas' arse.

I know for the sake of spreading hosts around to get out of conference hegemony the committee will make one team a 1 seed but make them travel to a 2 seed host. I wonder if that'll happen to an SEC team, I'm pretty sure it has happens in the past.

I'd be totally cool being a 2 seed in Austin.

That would be a fun regional to watch! I might have to catch some of those games.

The Big 12 seems a bit of a mess though. I wouldn't be shocked if texas hosted but I would think their finish in conference would have knocked them out of contention, especially with TCU in the tourney final (Pokes and Horns are waiting out a rain delay for the 2nd Final spot). I could see the NCAA awarding it to texas if they do end up winning the Big 12 Tourney - tickets will sell.

committee has an interesting situation with Rice/Houston and possibly LSU & Lafayette awarding Top 8.

Cal-Poly could be the likely choice to be a traveling #1 in Regional play if the NCAA doesn't like the 1534 capacity & 600 fixed seats. it doesn't appear to have ideal media/tv capabilities.

- it was built in 2001. it does have a statue of Ozzie Smith outside.

surrounding scenery is top notch and weather likely perfect...

Houston is not getting a Top8, neither is CalPoly.

1-6 are locks (UVA,UF, FlSt, ind, OreSt, ULL)
7 is going to TCU/oklSt/Big12
8 is going to LSU/Rice/OleMiss...(LSU with a Sunday win, rice/OM with an LSU loss)

Big West Commissioner on the committee per Kendall so Cal Poly will definitely be hosting. I think they are just outside of the margin of homerism that it would take for a national seed.

Still havent been able to find a list of other committee members..anyone else have it?

Florida and LSU national seeds

LSU has been impressive in the tournament, but the three wins have been against mid-week pitching. Still, you've taken care of business and it might just be enough to get that seed. It certainly has gotten you a hosting gig, which was doubtful going into the tournament.

Sunday perfect game update:
LINK

quote:

8. Louisiana State: What a wild past couple of weeks it has been for the Tigers. Just over a week ago, the Tigers were considered a team that needed to do some work to get a host site. Now, enough has broken their way that they have a very good shot to nab one of the top eight national seeds. It is not void of stiff competition, though, with teams such as Ole Miss, Miami, Cal Poly and South Carolina also in the mix, with Cal Poly and South Carolina looking the least likely right now. Going inside LSU’s resume, the Tigers are 43-14 overall, have an RPI of 8, are 4-7 vs. RPI Top 25, 15-12 vs. RPI Top 50 and 22-12 vs. RPI Top 100, in addition to an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. Though the Tigers have a non-conference RPI of 36, the committee absolutely could choose to hold a non-conference SOS of 269 against Paul Mainieri’s club.

quote:

Mississippi: Rebels fans will be discouraged to see LSU as the No. 8 national seed in this morning’s postseason report, but they’re still strongly in the mix for a national seed. As a matter of fact, if not the Tigers, the Rebels are my next choice. Ole Miss needs LSU to get knocked off in the SEC tournament finale. Meanwhile, Ole Miss has an RPI of 13, a non-conference RPI of 18 with a 128 non-conference SOS. Also, the Rebels finished the season 15-7 on the road, along with a 6-4 mark vs. RPI Top 25, 15-13 record vs. RPI Top 50 and 24-16 record vs. RPI Top 100. Additionally, don’t forget the Rebels finished the regular season as the SEC West Division champs, ahead of LSU, of course.

Miami: It’s hard to imagine the Hurricanes getting a national seed unless they leapfrog Virginia or Florida State. Should the ‘Canes get a national seed, that would mean either Virginia or FSU gets left out of the mix, or the SEC only gets one national seed. We don’t see those scenarios playing out. The Hurricanes have an RPI of 15...

Sunday baseball America update:

quote:

SEC (10): Florida, Ole Miss, South Carolina, LSU, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Alabama, Texas A&M.

quote:

NATIONAL SEEDS Changes from yesterday: TCU and LSU replace Miami and Mississippi as national seeds. The national seed race is getting really interesting. One team from the Big 12 deserves a national seed—it is the No. 2 RPI conference, and TCU and Oklahoma State have been two of the nation’s best teams in the second half of the season (neither has had a losing weekend in April or May). With the Cowboys and Frogs finishing 1-2 in the regular-season standings and then both reaching the conference tournament championship game, one of them must be a national seed.

quote:

If you assume the Big 12 gets one national seed, that leaves four teams competing for one spot: Mississippi, South Carolina, LSU and Miami. We’re crossing off the Hurricanes despite their ACC regular-season championship, as they are the lowest RPI team in this group, they have the fewest top 50 wins (11-11), and they went 1-2 in their conference tournament. Also, the SEC deserves a second national seed more than the ACC merits a third. As we wrote yesterday, there is very little difference between Ole Miss and South Carolina. But we now believe LSU has leapfrogged over both of them. The Tigers are up to No. 10 in the RPI (ahead of No. 13 South Carolina and No. 14 Ole Miss), and all three now have 15 top 50 wins. Sure, LSU played a weak nonconference schedule, with an 11-1 record against teams outside the top 200 (compared with Mississippi’s 3-0 and South Carolina’s 8-1). But the Tigers have overcome that deficiency in their resume by finishing third in the SEC during the regular season and steamrolling opponents in their last seven games, including a run to the SEC tournament championship game Sunday. They also took two of three against Ole Miss in Oxford, which helps. Momentum does matter, and LSU has a ton of it—this team is playing its best at the right time, and that is the separator.

SEC is too strong to not get 2 national seeds (#1 RPI conference). ..Especially since the alternative is giving the ACC (#3 conference) 3 seeds to the SEC's one. Either USC/OM had the second SEC national seed going I to Hoover but lost it for obvious reasons. If we assume LSU effectively replaced Olemiss/USC and the other national seed goes to the big 12 tournament champion, all eight national seeds are filled
