Half your fans tell me to relax, the other half tell me I need to have a shitty time because we lost a football game. Sounds like a new army/old army debate, I don't want to get caught in the crossfire

Actual statistics disagree. 2.63" is the most in a day in college station. So...yeah.

A lot of what you said is true. The women are just ok here, with some hotties sprinkled in but the ratios are not that great. Northgate is a terribly overrated bar scene. The tailgating is middle of the road. And the food scene in college station is short of terrible but..yeah.

That said, the most important thing a place can have is good people. You said people were kind to a fault. That may suck for football but for living here and going to school year round, its great. Its why I chose A&M and now A&M is shooting up in academic prestige as well.

While you say some true things, you never once struck anyone here as anything but a douche. Im not bitter but a spade is a spade. You came off arse and seem to have acted like a tool not even worth slapping around. So there, take it or leave it.

I think you should just avoid road trips that result in your football team's obliteration.

I think if you do that, you'll be fine.

so he shouldn't be a real fan?

I've been on that end many times. Planned a road trip way in advance and went even though a loss was probable. It's all about the experience and being able to say you've visited somewhere, outcome isn't that big a deal years from now, especially if not a championship game of some kind.

I'm glad you had a good time despite the bad things you said about our town.

I've been to numerous college towns/away games and I've never found a place that I thought measured up to College Station, but maybe I'm biased. I love that place.

However I am planning to come to Fayetteville next year (assuming it's not in Little Rock, if it's in Little Rock I am not going) and I'm sure I'll have equally positive things to say about it, as I've never had a good time in the state of Arkansas.

I wanted to see College Station during my one chance since we will thankfully go back to Jerryworld after next year. Sorry I wanted to give you guys and your campus a chance.

People always say don't knock it before you try it, so I went and now I know it sucks. Folks like you are the worst type of hypocrite

Yeah, you were one of the scrawny frat dudes (hence your lamenting of the lack of frat attire -- so fricking douchey) sitting down around row 7-11ish. I enjoyed observing you and your equally undeveloped bros hopelessly cheering your squad in the 1st quarter.

You seem to be very interested in the body types of the young men around you. Way to verify the aggie stereotype.

Correct.

Unless he just wants to be miserable. I don't necessarily blame him. It's one thing to watch your program's demise in the comfort of a familiar environment. It's another to witness such a dumpster fire on the road (to a rapidly rising program, no less).

It's a lot to take.

1. College Station is not what Aggy makes it out to be. They claim BCS is a diamond in the rough. It mostly consists of chain restaurants and crap hotels and is almost indistinguishable from any other Texas city. (inb4 sour grapes, inb4 58-10)

So you stayed on the main roads around campus? Got it. You may want to actually venture out away from where 50K college students hang out if you want higher level dining. When did you book your hotel? There are some crappy ones for those who don't plan ahead

2. If you are into fine cuisine, eat before coming to CS. If you want a hamburger though, this is your town. The food is pedestrian at best, especially on Northgate, which brings me to my next point

See response above.

3. Northgate sucks. Very underwhelming. It is basically 4 blocks total. For comparison, Dickson is twice as big with considerably more variety. NG made Dickson look like Bourbon.

That entire area is about to be torn apart and rebuilt. Currently, it looks almost exactly as it has for the last 100 years. Hopefully the rebuild will meet your standards. But, yes, it will be higher end and undergo a major expansion.

4. We saw two hot girls on the whole trip. They both joined in calling the hogs and told us they were Arkansas students. The rumors are true, don't let Aggy tell you differently.

Disagree. Sounds like you hung out in the wrong area.

5. Aggy said midnight yell would be hostile. We called the hogs, sang various university songs, etc and didn't even get a dirty look. If you are looking to harass some people, go to midnight yell. They just lay there and take verbal abuse

You thought it would be hostile? Funny, I along with others said the exact opposite. In fact, said you would get zero grief and most Aggies enjoy non-a-hole visitors coming to Yell to see what it is about which it sounds like you were not. Yell Practice is geared towards the student body and doesn't have anything to do with you. Were you hoping to get into a fight? Sorry our students are having fun and not getting into fights with opposing team fans VISITING a traditional event.

6. Frat attire is nonexistent at aTm. They think a maroon t-shirt is high class

Is "frat attire" desirable at a football game? Hmmm...A&M has a big Greek community, but most students are non-Greek and members of the 800 non-Greek organizations on campus. I am sorry that you didn't see enough dudes dressed like you. It clearly bothered you.

7. They do have a good parking situation, probably better than most. If you happen to like NG, it is a pretty easy walk to the stadium

Easy to park at NG and walk over to the tailgating areas for anyone who cares. Also easy walk to the stadium. Not everyone parking over there socializes over there since the that's not a tailgating area.

8. Getting to aTm is not the easiest thing in the world. There are some rough Farm to Market roads out that way

Where the hell are you driving from?

9. Aggy is very friendly, possibly to a fault. Easily the least intimidating venue I have ever been to. I'm not saying be nasty but they were annoying with the "howdy this" and "howdy that". It seemed very forced anyway

Maybe we felt sorry for you given your team's "situation". Or maybe we aren't assholes. Sorry that everyone was so nice and that it got under your skin. As for you not feeling like the venue was intimidating, you do get that the intensity of the crowd isn't as high when you are blowing a team out, right? The Florida fans seemed to think it was SEC-worthy. Next time, make it a game and we'll see.

10. They think the conference welcomes them with open arms. They also pine for our approval

You got this from walking around? Sounds like someone went in with pre-conceived notions. That said, I guess it would be better to not think highly of the SEC and wish we were back in the Big 12 in your mind. If by "approval" you mean hope that you have a good time, then yes. We like to be good hosts. You sound like a terrible guest.

11. Their tailgating sucks. Two hours before the game the place was barren. Aggy's excuse "it's raining". Pretty sure the rest of the conference still shows up when its raining.

Well, I guess we aren't worthy of you. You are right--pouring rain before an 11am game did put a serious dent into tailgating. Sorry. Although it sounds like you were on NG and then on one side of campus, so you may have not gone to the right areas for tailgating.

12. Their stadium smells like batshit, is covered in batshit, and their fans are batshit crazy. Kyle needs to be blown up.

Agree about all of it. Still love Kyle though.

13. Their yell leaders/corps of cadets are worse than you think. Granted, most of the people we talked to said that they hated them too, but still. Good lord

I'm not a Corps fan, but how are they "worse" than you think? They literally stand there like everyone else and other than the band marching at halftime, don't do anything different. If you are talking about March-in, that happens way before the game, all they do is literally walk around the track around the stadium in front of the reviewing stand. The only people that go to March-in are parents, former Corps members, and dignitaries. Seems odd that a small portion of students in their military uniforms is so upsetting to you.

As for the Yell Leaders, I don't get the hate for them. You do know that all SEC schools have actual male cheerleaders that do actual cheers, gymnastics, etc.? The Yell Leaders use hand signals to lead yells and that's literally it. They aren't doing stunts or tricks. Its five dudes that you barely even see unless you have your eye out for them. But they are incredibly effective.

14. We lost, we suck. So what, 42-25. We may lose out

You do sound pretty fricking bitter.

ok you're flaming. Thought you were better than that but guess you can't handle success.

I'll also assume you haven't been to Dallas in 3 years.

It's sad. I should have done more to avoid such ratification. After all, this is serious business.

Apologies to any other welterweight frat dudes on the board.

Did you just need somewhere to cry? What an awful post.

Also, is your football experience not complete without overdressed fratboys? Is there something you're trying to tell us? (not that there's anything wrong with that...)

I booked 4 months in advance

There were several threads where you Ags told us about "off the beaten path" places, so wrong again.

Every university has a majority non-greek population dumbass

I probably asked 20+ people about the conference, that was how I formed my opinion. Admit it is a small sample size, but those were the results.

Interstate 45

For "worse than I thought" I was mostly referring to midnight yell
