Pretty much everything I've ever heard points to the exact opposite of that, at least in the Saban era. Prior to Sabab, I have no idea, though I'd be very disappointed if an old-style Southern (well, Texan, anyway) coach like Gene Stallings did that. Recruits actually make a point of saying Saban sells himself and his program rather than attacks other programs. I think you might be engaging in confirmation bias.

Actually it's sad that with all that success you still have to talk shite about other teams/ schools. If I was Nick Saban I wouldn't say a word about any team outside of Tuscaloosa, I'd just open up my case of rings and point to one of those stupid posters with all the NFL draft busts on it.

Alabama Football sells itself like very few programs can.

Is it considered negative recruiting to show a kid Bama's W-L record in the strongest conference in the country and then ask that kid what other SEC program can match it? Is it negative recruiting to take the kid on a tour of UA facilities and compare them to other programs?

Saban, who had never previously been anywhere in his coaching career for longer than five years before coming to Alabama, is now the SEC's second-longest tenured coach behind LSU's Les Miles. Other schools and NFL clubs have made inquiries to Saban every year about moving, but he reiterated that Alabama is now home for him and his family.

"I think you get to a station in your life, whether it's family or relationships, a combination of all the above, that you just feel like you're entrenched," Saban said. "You can't even visualize being somewhere else, and that's where I am right now." LINK

Ole Miss is 3-11 against Nick Saban. Is that what y'all consider regular?

2-7 against him at Bama seems to contradict this.

In his defense, short people live longer, so he has a shot of coaching longer than most assume.

Actually it is the only thing you can legally discriminate against now. We just finished a neighborhood development that is only for those age 55+.

Lucky Mizzou. Your coach is immune to negative recruiting because nobody knows his name.

I can easily see Saban coaching another 5 seasons or so. Which means for the next year or two anyway, he can honestly tell recruits he plans to see their careers through at Bama. Truth of the matter is, as long as Saban keeps winning and pumping guys into the NFL, the top 5 classes will keep coming.

There's just as good a chance a younger coach has a couple of down years, gets fired and doesn't see his recruits graduate. Ask Chizik, Richt, Gus and many others about that.
