It's not irrelevant to the NFL. Nice try

Shame you can't put those NFL players to use while they're still in school

Per multiple sources, Shaq Wiggins is allowed to transfer to Mississippi State after appealing the restriction. He's also considering South Carolina and Tennessee, but I imagine he wants to reunite with Grantham.

That makes five former players that will compete against UGA this season, with 3 of them potentially on the same defense.

They've since changed that policy with Smart.

Yep, he blocked Miami with a quickness.

IMHO when a school decides to change coaches the kids that wish should be allowed to transfer.

It is a sad commentary when the only folks held to their word are the athletes in the business of NCAA football.

Would you be okay with your program letting some of your talented players easily transfer to Ole Miss, LSU, A&M, etc?

would I be happy about it? No, but that is not what should govern this.

There are 3 parties involved in this, the school, the coach, and the player.

The school can fire the coach or pull the scholly- no problem

The coach can quit, go elsewhere, or pull the scholly- no problem

Teenage kid- by god he must honor his agreement no matter what else changes

Seems a bit unfair that the only party not making millions has to honor the agreement.

It's just another part of competition in the SEC. Not saying I agree with it. It is what it is.

As I mentioned in my first post, there should be no restrictions on a graduate player with remaining eligibility. If he's already fulfilled his obligation to university, then it should almost be considered free agency at that point.

It is not just the SEC.

Imagine this scenario that plays out far too often.

Coach X spends hours upon hours convincing player Y and his family that his school is the place to be, the kid knows little about the school but commits to the coach as most do.

Now fast forward a bit and the coach decides to leave for greener pastures (more money) prior to classes actually starting. The kid is now bound to a university he knows little about and a new coach he does not know with a playing style that does not suit his talents.

The university is not required to forgo the season while they rake in tens of millions, the coach does not miss a beat at his new digs while making millions, but somehow the 17 year old kid who plays for free has to sit out and hope he is given permission to go to a school he chooses or sit out 2 years or half of his eligibility.

This does not seem fricked up beyond all reason to you?

I would use this example of Petrino's loyalty to a past signee when recruiting ANYONE who would be considering Louisville.

This is a known scenario when a kid, and his family sign up. If not ok with the possibility then don't sign up anywhere to play. Better alternative?? Or maybe go to a school that will contractually say they wont do this???

Stop with the 17yo bs cause close to none of these players are 18 by the time your scenario is in play. Big # of them are most likely 18 when signing.

Stop with the "play for free" crap too. you may not value an education, but there's a cost to that others have to pay. Those others that have to pay it don't get the benefits that these "playing for free" players get either.

Get the NCAA to change the rule. If they have the power, and authority to force a State Govt to change laws then they can change this too. Maybe copy/paste your post, and send them a little "pretty please with sugar on top" note. Please let us know their response. Thanks.
