When's the last time a coach has been given a contract extension for anything more than winning football games?

Every single program in the SEC values wins -- I agree with that.

When's the last time a coach has been given a contract extension for anything more than winning football games -- I don't know why they would. A coach's primary job is to win football games. But just because a program values winning, but not mean that it values it more than integrity. Tressel was one of the most winning coach's in the history of The Ohio State University, but he messed up and was fired. The Pirate at Texas Tech was a very winning coach - he put the program on the map, but he messed up and was fired. (And I would have loved to lock that DB and his DB father in a closet.) Programs often fire winning coaches for making poor decisions -- thus valuing the integrity of the institution above the wins.

The sad truth, however, is that last year you guys were a VERY distant third in the SEC West and things won't be any different this year except that the gap between you and the schools below you will decrease

LSU v. Ar-Kansas - 41-17

Bama v. Ar-Kansas - 38-14

That is what I call a VERY distant third.

they were closer to losing to ole miss, vandy, troy andA&M (beat them them by a combined 22 points) than they were to beating LSU or BAMA (lost to both by 24 points)

and LSU was kicking FG's instead of running for TDs as we could easily have done after they quit...we are the Kings of Mercy!!

Petrino must've sucked at hide & go seek as a kid. Every damn thing he does, wrong, he gets caught

I doubt that

The boldness of his behavior with the girl in question suggest he was used to this type of behavior and did not worry about appearances any more

If this was the first time he'd done this type of thing I doubt he would have been riding around town with her on his bike or bold enough to have the university hire her to work underneath him

you absolutely gotta love the state of Louisiana in their vain attempts to lecture someone, anyone, or anything about what proper morals and values are all about...Louisiana heads the list of incarceration rates...now this is in the country who incarcerates more of its citizens than any other country in the world..so one can deduce that since Louisiana leads the country that leads the world in convicted felons in jail (well, all except for Jordan Jefferson, a local Baton Rouge hero)that there are one helluvalot of bad guys in the state just to the South of Arkansas....examine your own front porches before you make a brave noise about ours'...by the way, for those who need this info confirmed, here you go... to be fair our incarceration rates are inflated because of the proximity of Arkansas - putting BP's children and HDN's ex-QBs in jail unfairly inflates our numbers

For a while now, many posters have maintained that Bobby Petrino is, to put it bluntly, a scumbag. There was jetgate, the way he left Louisville, the way he left the Falcons, and his generally undesirable conduct along the way, e.g. the manner in which he handled the loss to LSU last year. This latest faux pas does nothing more than reaffirm that he lacks moral fiber, integrity, and character. Yes, he is a good offensive coach. Yes, he has elevated the level of success for the Hawgs. But whether Arkansas decides to fire Petrino has absolutely nothing to do with whether Petrino is a class A jerk, and everything to do with the integrity of the institution. Petrino has proven his lack of character time and time again. Now Arkansas, as an institution has an opportunity to show its mettle. It can fire Petrino, sending a clear message that such conduct will not be tolerated or it can send an even clearer message that moral character is not important for the head coach as long as he is winning.

What did Petrino do? I've been on this board for 5 days straight and I haven't seen anything mentioned about him.

Ark made the moral character decision when they hired him. They were apart of how he left Atl and knew his history as well as who he is as a person. There were no surprises here. This is what Arky wants. As long as he keeps winning, does not get caught with a dead girl or a young boy he keeps his job.

Let it go. This is who Arky wants.
