Oregon offense works in the Pac 12; it clearly does not work against SEC defenses, including one of the more marginal national championship defenses we've seen in the BCS era (Auburn 2010).

Not everyone in the Pac 12 runs our style of offense. By the way, we put up more points and held them to fewer points than LSU.

I'm not speaking for the guy saying "the way they were beaten", but i think he means more that you didn't run up 50 points like you do against your PAC-12 conference on a weekly basis.

That's exactly what I was saying.

Oregon scored 19 pts against a mediocre Auburn defense; they scored 27 against LSU (and anyone watching knew that band members were playing the last half of the 4th quarter in a blowout).

I agree that not everyone runs the same style of offense; the point is that in two straight attempts to run that crap against SEC defenses, Oregon failed miserably. It might work against Kentucky and Ole Miss, but it won't work against the best teams in the SEC.

They don't have the demographics that we have. This is the main reasons we are so good in the sec.

That's fine. It's a flawed argument one way or the other considering there is more to the game than just offense (LSU fans should know this). I'll counter with Oregon held them to 22 points. They averaged 40 points a game against SEC opponents.

That's fair. LSU held them to 24.

Unfortunately we both ended up on the wrong end on that one.

Pac 12 is still all offense. Until they start putting their best players on defense, they won't pass up the SEC.

We scored 19. You scored 17. We lost by 3. You lost by 7. We were closer.

I'm just messing around. My point is, I am not going to be too distraught over losing to the 14-0 National Champions with Cam Newton at quarterback and the 13-0 (highly possible) National Champions. It's not like we are losing to Ole Miss, Tennessee, Kentucky, etc.

Fixed. You'd make a great Gamecock fan. Story of our lives since joining the SEC.

I've been an Oregon fan since birth (Rich Brooks years). I am just grateful for the opportunity we are in. My early years were rough. Very rough.

Not an insider, so I only got to read the first few paragraphs, but he pretty much states his premise right off the bat.

The Pac 12 will pass the SEC because they added two shitty teams and now play a snoozer of a conference championship game.

Makes perfect sense.

To me their is also flaws in just looking at Oregon's game vs LSU and also against Auburn. How would Oregon fair playing Auburn, LSU, Arkansas, and Bama last year like Miss. St and Ole Miss had to do? My guess they would be about like Arkansas most years or a little bit below. They get to play LSU fresh. Auburn fresh after a month off. The SEC test you because you HAVE to bring your A game almost every week and you get beat up with injuries because of the more physical defenses. Oregon was banged up after LSU, but had cupcakes the next few weeks and got to heal up before playing anyone worth a crap. The lack of depth would kill every Pac 12 team in SEC play. LSU loses Honey Badger and Brooks steps in. Ken Adams goes down and Mingo steps up and plays well. P.J goes down and we shift guys around and absolutely pound people with the run and thats after an 5th year senior Josh D. goes down.

That's a pretty dumb statement. What separates the SEC is that the talent is right in their own backyard. Unless all those athletes start moving to other states the SEC will remain the strongest conference.

I am not an insider, but it looks like quite a few Pac12 schools got/will get substantial coaching upgrades this year. SEC coaching changes over the last year or so are pretty suspect. So there are some big ifs here but:

(Reasonable assumptions) Assume that USC comes off probation and emerges as a top team and Oregon emerges relatively unscathed from NCAA investigations and continues to do well. Leach puts together a relatively successful team at WSU (he could win at Lubbock FFS)

(Bigger ifs) Stanford continues to do well after Luck leaves; Rich Rod works out well; UCLA gets a good coach and drops $$ into their program.

I could see if all that happened that PAC12 would be a stronger conference than an SEC given the collapse of the SECE (can Boom get it done at FL? Will Richt ever make the next step at UGA? Can Mullen be successful at Miss St? Will Auburn rebuild and rejoin the top tier schools with current coaches? Lots of questions in the SEC's future dominance IMO).

Yeah all offense no defense
They'll get slammed when they run up against a SEC defense

Over time those schools will get better defensively

USC could compete because they cherry-pick who they want out of the south. Who doesn't literally want to play for Hollywood?

That said, USC has not faced an SEC team in the BCSNCG. We'll see.
