Baton Rouge is one of few towns in the sec that isn’t a hole in the wall.

And yes, Mississippi is the epicenter of class lol. Hugh “Pimp” Freeze and Lane Kiffin fit the culture very well during their time in Oxford. I still recall when the Ole Miss player did his imitation of a pissing dog and cost the Rebs the Egg Bowl. People in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

I don't know about that, but BR is easily the least desirable SEC town to live in.

And Ole Miss people like to pretend that Oxford, MS is a classy version of the “old south” born out of a frickin Mark Twain novel or some bullshite.

And if there is one thing Ole Miss does well it’s “pretending”….While everybody else laughs and points at them

White Flight when they leave, Gentrification when they move in.

Lived in BR for several years late 90s, undergrad and few years working. Obviously a lot has changed there and many places since, so I could be wrong in many ways, but BR doesn’t seem any worse than any other city of comparable size and demographics. And especially relative to LSU campus and surrounding areas, that have actually improved in later years.
Avoid North BR, which isn’t hard because there’s no reason to go there anyway. A couple other roughish areas around as well.
Doesn’t seem nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

Only white trash people from State and LSU don’t like Oxford. Which is understandable.

The national media loves Oxford. It’s the quintessential college town. Bucket list destination for most college football fans.

What about Natchez? I feel like that's where all the rich people in MS are

Maybe. I’m not very familiar with Natchez.
