I don't smoke regularly but a lot of my friends do and I will when I get drunk sometimes. They always had the designated area above the student section and everyone still goes there. They have asked me to put them out a couple of times but they usually turn a blind eye to it.

I'm a social smoker too. Dipping was always worse for me.

I'm all for it. Smoking should be publicly banned everywhere. It's fricking disgusting and those of us who make good life choices shouldn't have to breath in that shite.

Between that and the new Space Shuttle hangar attached to your stadium, I believe LSU is entering a state of elitism here before never seen in the South.

I quit for a year, then got drunk and thought "ah, just one little pinch." A year later I'm trying to quit again. The dry mouth life fricking sucks.

$500 fine for smoking anywhere on the University of Arkansas campus.

Suicide is illegal.. so why is smoking legal?

If you go to the library at any time during the semester, you'll see tons of students smoking cigs outside

Brings back lots of fine memories, smoking gets a bad rep, met lots of cool people while smoking on campus.

I love how people like to bring kids and families into the argument as a reason. LSU campus on gameday is anything but a family atmosphere.

Oh where do I start?

A. No where, even in legalized states, can you smoke marijuana in public.

B. It has been proven second hand smoke can cause cancer. Kids go to football games. If it was an 18 up place I wouldn't care about smoking outside.

C. Cigarettes fricking stink. It's gross and annoying to everyone around you who isn't white trash.

I do think if there were decent designated smoking areas that it should be fine. Never seen those in an SEC stadium. Ole Miss has them on campus and they are fine.

ETA: also, it's a college campus, not a city. Cities are banning smoking in public areas for reasons stated above. You can still go sit in your 2004 Mercury and smoke cigarettes all you want.

I don't smoke and rarely associate with those that do, but I'm also not some lactose intolerant, gluten-free, fancy lad sniveler who's going to tell people how to live their lives. And as a rule, 99% of the smokers I've encountered are extremely considerate of others and respect requests to abstain in homes, vehicles, etc.

The run amok PC police who pick and choose what offends them, offends me. Their desire to not only curb, but crush, behavior that they deem inappropriate is as intolerant as the tolerance they demand be extended to them for their various milksop fancies.

I'm actually surprised smokers have accepted the increasingly onerous restrictions as well as they have. And as long as they're not blowing it in my face, I can tolerate the exceedingly minimal impact their lifestyle choice has on me.

I'm torn. While I like the idea of not smelling smoke, I'm equally in disfavor of the all-too-easy way people ban shite like this.
