Just curious about what everybody else thought about the new campus-wide smoking ban at LSU that goes into effect for its first football season....Agree? Disagree? Does your school have a similar policy?

Tailgaters won't be allowed to light up outside of Tiger Stadium or anywhere else on campus in the Fall. LSU is going tobacco free. The university is adopting a new policy which restricts smoking and chewing tobacco. But some smokers and non-smokers said they are not so sure the new rules will stick. It is not uncommon to walk around campus and see people smoking outside. It is prohibited inside buildings and Tiger Stadium, but university leaders are taking it another step by banning tobacco use anywhere on campus.

smokers can stay home if they don't like it

It won't work. When people drink, many will end up smoking. Auburn is "tobacco free" too.

SC is also a tobacco free campus. "Tobacco Free USC" is the slogan I think.
With that said I see people smoking outside between classes. Nothing bothering anyone and I don't think anyone minds.

And non smokers can stay home, too.

They admit that it won't work...there's no penalties or enforcement, it's more of a PR move and they're trying to promote a non-smoking "culture." They also removed all ashtrays from campus, so litter will undoubtedly increase.

No way they actually enforce that on game days
Posted on 8/9/14 at 7:04 pm to JPLSU1981
yea I'm wondering how they would enforce it.

Auburn is also tobacco free. If you go to the library at any time during the semester, you'll see tons of students smoking cigs outside. It doesn't work at all

I may be wrong, but I think LSU is an alcohol-free campus as well. Lol

Do you actually expect this to be enforced? Can't stop everyone.

I like it.. vape if you gotta get your fix, but don't make me smell that shite.

Support it. Ole Miss has the same thing and it's great.

Actually e-cigs are part of the ban as well.

I wish they would do something to stop people from smoking in BDS.

Unless you're in Touchdown Village, where you could snort cocaine off a dead hooker's body and the cops wouldn't even blink.
