Some of you UGA fans are full pf pride. I get that and assume you are young. The point is you have a nationally respected coach and a great program. We are in the SEC. It's getting harder to repeat as a champion in this league. Getting rid of a top tier coach is not a way of going about achieving the next level unless you have a proven winner or "something better" step in at the same level or better. UF bet on Meyer and won, OM bet on Ogre and lost, LSU bet on Miles and is losing. Bama did NOT bet on Saban and is irrelevant. Same goes for Chizik. I would be surprised if he equalled the same record as Tubberville at AU when his time is up. Time will tell. IMO it's not really "settling" to keep MR. good luck

You mean UGA had players beating up trash cans outside the hospital and feeling up pregnant women before richt got there?

I know your post was in jest Geaux, but that just goes to show how trivial these issues are when compared to other programs who have people failing drug tests and shooting AKs. A player punched over a potted plant last year, and a few years ago a player felt a pregnant girls stomach. He didn't batter her, or hit her, he touched her belly. Bunch of criminals I tell ya!

We'll just have to agree to disagree. Yes, I hate losing to Tech. And yes, if our coaches lose to Tech they're gone. But if you go to Columbia you feel the hatred for us just like you do in Tech and SC means very little to me other than the '07 game.

I want to beat UF, AU, and UT every year. I'm from extreme NWGA, so I'm amongst many UT and AU fans.

Against Tech by decade:
'60s --> 6-4
'70s --> 7-3
'80s --> 7-3
'90s --> 7-3
'00s --> 8-2 (2 losses by an average of 7 pts)

I think there is a trend here.

Excellent post Slo. I said it earlier in the thread, but if we canned Richt nobody in their right mind who we KNOW would be better would come here. There are VERY few proven commodities out there, and none would leave their current school to come replace Richt. You could draw a loose comparison to us and the latter part of Tubbs' tenure at Auburn. Only difference is we've won more than he did. We've recruited better, won more titles, etc. They took a chance on an unproven head coach and the jury is still out. I would sure hate to replace Richt with someone who is unproven that we're "taking a shot" on.

And that, my friend, is where you're dead wrong. Tech lives and breathes 24/7 to beat UGA. In their fight song it says "drop a battle axe on georgia's head". Their fans chant "What's the good word? TO HELL WITH GEORGIA" "How bout them dawgs? PISS ON EM" even at games we're not playing them. They print up shirts and newspapers with THWG on it. We had to stop the rivalry in the early 1900s because some of our students derailed their train back to Atlanta. I've been to 11 SEC stadiums, a pac 10, a big 12, clemson, Jax over 10 times, several bowl games, SECCGs, etc. I've been around a lot of rival fanbases. NONE hold a candle to the hatred tech has for us.

Let's not forget stealing a girl's credit card. A dead girl's credit card. And actually using the thing. Top 1% of the top 1%.

The POS was kicked. What do you want?

He should still be in jail IMO. Oooooor, they should have let Joe Haden beat him silly.

Yes, i agree, he should still be in jail or prison or some sort of religious counseling group. That's about as low as it gets.

Yes, Saban is so MUCH the better coach that he has decimated Richt head to head...oh wait, the head to head is only 2-3 in 5 games, including two very close games? I think Saban in a great coach, don't get me wrong, but Richt absolutely abused his vaunted defense in 2004. The 2003 regular season game was one of the best games I have ever seen. Yes, Saban rocked UGA in the 2003 SECCG and the 2008 game, however, I would also say that he had the better team both years, since 2003 and 2008 the UGA OL was just one big pail of inexperience and injury.

Hell, I wonder if anyone would even be having this discussion if UGA did not lose 18!! starters to injury in 2008? It certainly would have been easier to live up to expectations with those boys back in the lineup.

As it is, I am pretty damn sure that "Richt is on the hot seat" is just the recruiting line emanating from Bama this year as they try to get a few good ones out of Georgia this year. Finebaum has certainly gotten the memo.

Regardless I do think that he has refocused quite a bit this offseason and I think the team will play well.

While Grantham got the hype, I think the key will be Lakatos and Belin- two absolutely GREAT hires.

I have seen a decline in our program since BVG left. Even though we won the SECCG in 2005 I believe that is when the decline began. Had BVG been at the reins of the D we very well win a MNC instead of an SECC.

BVG was the heart and soul of our Defense and CMR did a respectable job running the Offense as a HC.

Richt figures CWM can do the same thing BVG has been doing so turns the DC job over to him without so much as a search for a better DC. Richt is over-committed in his choice to his BFF and sticks with him way too long. He then hands over OC to Bobo without so much as a search. His inbred coordinators destroy everything BVG had built.

Focus and discipline deteriorate into the worst penalty and turnover ratio in the nation last year. Players dancing on the field during time outs when we are lonsing in the 4th QTR. The Inmates are running the asylum. Richt is an Idiot and should be fired for incompetence.

Resting on his laurels Richt gets a chance to "make changes" and hires CTG. I see lots of hope here. Unfortunately he does not take back over as OC or hire somebody capable to do it. We are all suppose to be reassured because he is now "MORE INVOLVED". Give me a break. CMR gets 3Milly a year to be involved.

Richt was never that great. He was very good and BVG was great and that is the closest this program has come to greatness.

I figure Richt, is just saving the Fire Bobo card, to milk a couple of more years out of us.

So much to say, but really who is still reading?
