Richt>>>Miles.

Not a lot of good coaches available out there. Keep him if you can.

Yeah it's speculation, but it's not a stretch. Hell, we only lost by 4 with Joe damn Tereshinski at QB, you don't think we would've played a big better with Shock in the game?

Certainly possible that y'all would have played better, but who in the hell knows. Not trying to be a dick, but there were other times when UGA was probably the better team and came out with a loss (e.g. the year UGA went 13-1, which was I think 2002).

Give them a break. Numbers confuse the hell out of them.

You raise another interesting point Slo. Let's say we have two more subpar years and Richt is fired, as some on here like to think. Who would we get that's better? We wouldn't take a shot on an unproven young guy, because apparently the only thing we'd be concerned abt at that point is a guy who can/has won a title. Who would see the success Richt has had, who has now been fired, and want to follow him? Nobody. There is not one coach in America who is PROVEN (I'm talking like a Saban or Meyer type coach) who would leave their current situation to go to Athens if Richt was fired. They would know that if they didn't win it all in a few years they'd be gone too.

Your damn right we've lost when we were better. I can think of several times. We just wet the bed down there for some reason, no way around it. I just don't see how we lose that game with DJ. If we had lost by 30 then there's no way at all you can make a comparison. But the fact that we lost by 4 with virtually no passing game, when DJ was probably the best QB in the conference that year, makes me think we would've pulled it out. It's irrelevant though at this point. What's done is done.

Throw serious money at Saban and he'd leave. Of course the buckets would go out at Walmart immediately to collect to raise his salary, but he'd leave for enough money. Any coach would I would think.

That's crazy talk. The only way Saban would leave bama is if we offered him like $5M, which we wouldn't do. Any high offer we made, bama would match. And we would also want someone to stick around a while, something that Saban has not had a history of. I'd love to have the guy as a coach, but it ain't happening. No way no how.

Oh, I ain't clamoring for Saban at all. Just sayin', money talks and no matter how many NC's Bama has, we can still match moneywise. That goes for any coach though, not just Saban.

I think part of it is that UGA is living in the shadow of UF. The downside is that UGA is considered a great football program on the edge of elitism. MR will keep UGA at it's current status. I think keeping him around longer will at some point build a solid respectful following because of his youth. Building doubt from your fanbase will translate to recruits inwhich the state of GA seems to be getting picked off by several SEC schools. IMO, keep MR for a while longer and be patient for UF to be down and then ya'll will need to step up. Sooner or later an SECCG win will translate to a shot at the MNC title. Good luck unless you are facing us WG.

Rivals state of GA rankings, top 10 players:

2010: UGA got 4, other SEC schools got 3
2009: UGA 5, Other SEC got 2
2008: UGA 7, SEC 1
2007: UGA 3, SEC 2
2006: UGA 3, SEC 3

I just went back the last 5 seasons. Even with 2 crappy years in there, we still didn't get outpicked in our state by other SEC schools.

This is the kind of attitude we don't need to have, IMO. In all 3 years we went to the SECCG, we lost to Florida. In both years we beat UF, we didn't go. That's kind of crazy. But my point it we can't just sit around and wait for florida to be down. They're florida, they'll always be good. We have to up our game. From 2002-2005 we played at a VERY high level of football. I truly believe the changes in coaching and attitude we've just made will get us back there.

You're right, and that's what I've been saying. Keep putting yourself in good positions and it'll eventually happen. Florida and LSU got the outside help they needed, both years UGA had a chance they didn't. It happens. But it will eventually.

Not to mention our big time QB recruits have come from OUTSIDE of GA.

Some have, but I was just pointing out the fact that contrary to popular belief, we're not getting raided like Sherman's march to the sea when it comes to recruits in Georgia.

for some reason I'm not afraid of Richt/UGA at all. maybe it has to do with the fact that we owned their asses during our recent darkest years.
he had great success during the early part of the decade and in '05 but since then he's been losing most of the big games against its rivals.

Here's our record against our 5 biggest rivals, in order, in your stated time period of 2006 on:

GT: 3-1
UF: 1-3
AU: 4-0
UT: 1-3
SC: 3-1

That's a total of 12-8. It's not good by any stretch, but it's also not losing "most" of the time either.

you call SC your rival? UGA can do better than that. GT IS your big rival but win/loss record playing out of conference teams doesn't affect the SEC East race.
I'd say teams UGA must beat head-to-head in the East to win the division is UF and UT. and UGA is 2-6 since 2006.

Reading comprehension must not be your strong suit. I said our rivals, in order. SC was listed 5th. You don't think SC is one of our FIVE biggest rivals? Who is then? I mean we're their 2nd biggest rival, I don't really think they wouldn't be in our top 5.

You would think so. But since 2006, the year we beat UF we didn't go, and the year we beat UT we didn't go. Every SEC game counts just as much as the next.
