He's a quitter and a dick. He's entertaining but anyone who says he's a good guy never met him of spent any real time around him. The media loves him because he's journalist gold, but he's mostly just a douche.

I have a feeling Spurrier's decision was not made by him alone. Just my opinion.

He might have been asked to retire immediately by the AD and athletic foundation for the good of the program. It makes good recruiting sense to have a permanent coach in place.

I seriously doubt that. He built up quite a bit of capital there. It would have taken a few more bad years for that to happen.

Why is this so hard for you Gumps to get?
Spurrier sat down with AD.
Both agreed season was lost.
Spurrier says he's retiring.
Both agreed that by retiring now, SC could have a coach in place shortly after the season who could bring stability to the recruiting process.
Spurrier retires.

You know how the Saban saga from his days at LSU, to Miami to Alabama goes, I'll spare the rest of the board the details.

I was pointing out the hypocrisy in his post.

There once was a man named Steve,
Who was more popular than one can believe,
When all in a huff,
He had enough,
and decided to walk out and leave.

You know, when I'm 70 and I decide to hang it up, 2 things I won't be doing, worrying about what people think of me hanging it up, and consulting you on what you think I should be doing at 70.

LOL...Dude's one of tGOAT...and he's accomplished more than 99% of his colleagues. That guy can afford-both literally and figuratively-to go out however in the f$ck he wants to...and if you haven't figured out that BAMF doesn't give one flying f$ck what you-or anyone else-thinks about him or how he does anything in his life, you're just as much of a douche as you claim he is.

He more than likely got asked to leave IMO. It isn't very characteristic of him to just throw in the towel midseason. If administration said "hey, this is your last year" than he probably wanted to go out "retired" instead of "fired"

Probably true all around, but like I said in earlier threads, at least his Florida teams backed up their coach by winning against those he boasted against.

Is it possible there is a third reason and is it possible we may never know that reason? Us humans do such a good job of sitting in judgment of one another.
