It's not just one and done. It's the whole mercenary feel of college basketball. You are applying a completely different decision-logic to Cb than I am. I'm telling you I don't enjoy the game anymore, it doesn't interest me. I've asked myself how I could have gone from a fanatical diehard to DGAF and it's the whole transitory/mercenary nature of the game.
You want me to agree with you so badly. Not sure why. Regardless, you like the game as it is played now and I'd rather watch a hockey game on tv with that four hour block of time that I used to spend going to the game.
If the young guys stuck around I'd probably stick around.

Horrible assessment of the NBA- right now. The 90s Jordan era was most like this. Just ugly basketball.

Then why make them go to college at all? It's the NBAs rule. The NCAA isn't forcing them to stay.

While I think one and done sucks, there should be no rule forcing kids to attend college for any amount of time.

Exactly. Don't make them go to college if they don't want to go to college. The Europeans let kids play professionally at 16 or 17 years old. We are forcing kids to go to college to exploit them for a few years. We don't want to pay them and don't want them to leave early to go get paid and hurt our NCAA product.

let them go, it's not going to hurt the ncaa product anymore than it's already been hurt imo.

I think there are pros and cons to both. With high turnover, comes low experience. Teams that have developed 3/4/5-star players (ie juniors and seniors) are on the same level. Not to mention the fact that these 5-star freshman are still a risk to build a team around. Just because their game translates to the NBA, doesn't mean they have what it takes to go the distance in CBB. Personally, I believe players should be able to go straight from high school if they want.

I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often.. Think it'd be hard for a high school senior to turn down playing overseas for 100k for a year instead of going to college.
Disclaimer: I have no idea what people get paid to play overseas.

No kidding. It's kind of a catch 22 though. Half the time, the players seem to underestimate the competition overseas and end up playing terrible and hurting their draft stock.

Guess that makes sense. College is obviously seen as the "next step" to most of these kids. Assume that is why so few of them are going overseas.

i would think the distance would sometimes be a deterrent too. going overseas for a guy just leaving the nest is a pretty big leap.
