Oh damn, I didn't know a play in the 2nd quarter could decide a football game.

Thanks for the football insight

Thats what they fail to realize. The space time continuum says that after the second quarter play happened or didnt happen, the after effect is unknown. Hell there is more than an entire half of football to play. But with the arkansas play, if it doesnt happen its literally over.

Ole Miss dropped a 4th quarter INT from beating Bama by 20 points, but nah, fluke Ole Miss win is the proper narrative.

In their best season in the last 50 years, 4th & 25 kills their chance at a Conference Title.

They'll never be relevant in the grand scheme of football, just a hiccup in the schedule of life.

If my team lost back-to-back games to an irrelevant opponent, I'd be proud too.

Lest we forget that the Landshark Defense harassed Coker all night long and forced them into 7 turnovers!! Oh I forgot, Bama gave the game to us.

Ole Miss always gonna Ole Miss. WAOM has become so hardwired into our DNA that we almost expect an opponent to convert 4th and 25. There's no telling how we'd handle it if the team actually defied WAOM and nothing went wrong.

From 0-8 to 6-2 in the SEC in four years. I'll take it.

Won Bama game with a ball bouncing off a helmet and an illegal man downfield that didn't get called.

Lost the Arkie game on a fluke play. All evened out in the end. This record is pretty much where Ole miss always is. even the Billy Brewer years.

Wouldn't you say THREE Pick 6s vs Texas A&M was pretty flukey?

I love how when the Tide loses its excuse mania. But when they win a game in a similar manner it "skill, determination."

Ole Miss is a hard team to figure, beat all those teams and then get blown out by Florida and lose to Memphis, not to mention a close loss to a good but not great Hogs team. Only thing I can figure is they have good talent now in their starting 22 but don't have the depth that the elite teams like Bama, OSU, OU, etc have.

Seems they lose a lot of high level talent this year, will be interesting to see what they do next year.

As an Ole Miss fan, while it sucks to be so close and miss this and last year, I am not losing perspective over what Freeze has been able to accomplish since taking over a 2-10 team. He has a .500 record or better against every SEC West team. It's not like he took over a team with back to back to back Top 10 recruiting classes that was just an attitude adjustment away from the Playoffs.

I think his first four years are very similar to Dabo's first four years at Clemson, and Clemson was in a better position when Dabo took over and in a weaker division/conference. As long as you are competitive, you will eventually get there. Acting like we were some consistently mediocre program under Billy Brewer through Houston Nutt isn't even half right - other than the late Tubberville through the next-to-last Cutcliffe year, we were rancid with an occasion Independence Bowl.

Its harder to build something when your foundation has been cracked since 1971. Continuing momentum and recruiting well will keep us close until the ball bounces our way, and until then we'll have to remain satisfied beating Bama every year.

one, single fluke play decided a game that ended in a multiple score deficit.
Bama fans complaining about a non-call.
MSU fan laughing at a season that had a better record than when they won the west.
LSu fans actually giving props to Ole Miss.

....this thread is dumb as shite.

But let's be clear, the tip 6 didn't win Ole Miss that game, while stopping 4th and 25 would have.

Freeze's comment about "we're a 4th and 25 from Atlanta" was very Houston Nutt-esque. "So close..etc"

frick that. Every team has games they lost on "one play". Arkansas lost two SEC games like that this season. OT vs A&M and State on a blocked FG.
