Dude is going to the NFL after this season. His grades this semester don't affect his current eligibility, so he doesn't give a frick. He's probably failing or close to failing every class. I bet he's at his apartment hitting the bong while his teammates are in Study Hall.

Ole Miss is just covering themselves for when lil Kimchee goes all "Greg Hardy" in the NFL.

But it could also be a motivational move by Ole Miss if he's not attending class like he should

yeah his 1.5 sacks really had him in the running too

If he is failing out of school, maybe he's not the best candidate for such an award. It could reflect poorly on Lott Award and Ole Miss, if any of the above were found to be true.
Completely agree. Ole Miss fans are attacking the messenger in this thread, but I'm actually proud of Ole Miss for removing him. Well, proud may not be the best word, but I think it looks good for Ole Miss and bad for Nkemdiche.
Whether it is a motivation ploy by Ole Miss, or if they're trying to preserve the integrity of the award, it shows they've got some standards and values. However, there is not good way to spin it for Nkemdiche.

Partly true. He may be ineligible for the post-season, and Ole Miss removed him from consideration before their playoff dreams vanished.
While it may not have a major negative impact on his draft stock, these kind of stories certainly don't help him in that department.

I find that really hard to believe. Dude 's dad is a Dr. African parents are pretty tough when it comes to academics
His dad is a foreign doctor who cannot practice as even a a family practitioner in the US because he lacks the proper accreditations. He can only work in research type jobs.

I wonder what is considered "good academic performance" for this award, and what the community service requirements actually are. He may not actually be failing, so his eligibility wouldn't be in question, but whether it actually meets the standards of the award is the question.

I do know the info about the principal being replaced is true.

Strange PR move by Ole Miss. They are typically media whores. There is something going on. Every school in America would welcome the chance to have their star athlete win such an award.

I'm not sure, but from the article:
quote:
“We do not have a specific academic criteria, such as a minimum grade point average. We ask the Sports Information Directors if their student-athlete is attending and passing classes. In the case of Nkemdiche, Ole Miss notified us after the season began that they felt he did not qualify academically for our award.

Harvard of the South where all things preppy and greek reside. We are home of the Mannings (we still love Peyton) and the best tailgating in the SEC. We don't buy our grades because are too busy spending our money on the Square.
During football season, the town of Oxford shuts down because everyone is in the Grove cheering on the Ole Miss Rebels.

Looking at that through my best red and blue glasses, I only hope that just means he's not attending class, but is still passing. But other than that, you're right, doesn't look good on him.

Probably don't want anyone looking into his major/class schedule.

Look away. No fricks to be given, Larry.

well, good thing Ole Miss lost to Memphis, because it would have been a real shame for them if they made the playoffs and Nkemdiche wasn't able to play, because his eligibility will be affected for the postseason if he doesn't make grades

Everyone is tiptoeing around the obvious....Nkemdiche is a DUMBASS and even Ole Miss can't cover it up.

I don't think anyone is denying that. He has done several stupid things in the past.

Then why would they publicly announce him not doing well academically through the Lott Award announcement?

Shush, your logic has no place here.
